    Layout/Paddle Opinions

Too bad you can't trial run each. For me the greater stability of a Hellbender over a Cottonmouth would be the deciding factor. I think it looks better too and could be camo'd to hide like a coffin blind.

    Layout/Paddle Opinions

The Cottonmouth is narrower than your Carstens Puddler and the Hellbender 10 is close to the same size. I think they only way you pick up storage is to go with the Hellbender 12.

    Composite Materials

Steve There are certainly a lot of new products out there since I built my first in 1998. However, I don't think any of them are a substitute for the plywood in the hull of a stitch-n-glue boat. Wood simply possesses characteristics like strength and bendability that are hard to replicate.

SJ That looks fantastic. You've done it in a short period of time too. No fooling around on your part.

    1960 Barnegat Bay Sneak Box

Anthony & Richard I'm glad you posted this boat. I have one that is not completed hanging from my rafters. Dave Clark incorporated all kinds of neat things that are not in the plans which give me some ideas to add to mine. That project is a year or more away but this post fires me up.

    Composite Materials

I ran across this video which provides some good insights into modern materials used in boat building. The discussion is from the point of view of materials for boat cabinet making, rather than hull construction, but the info goes beyond boat cabinets. This one has a lot of good info too.

Going for the dumbest mistake of the years award.

Steve My boats are strapped just as you show. It is very secure. I was getting bad chaffing but cured that by taking brass tube with a radius similar to the deck's edge and slicing it longitudinally. I then shaped it with a hammer to get a nice fit and attached it with 5200 and a couple...

    Prop source for aluminum props....

Tod I had no idea altitude has that much effect on internal combustion engine performance. One might could make an argument for electric motors at higher altitudes. Thanks for the report and it's good to hear you are back in business.

Cape May County pond/ ditch box

Bob Sweet boat. It seems a bit deeper than other pond boxes I've seen. Any particular reason why? Payload, concealment, etc.?

Zack taylor widgeon new to me

Steve I knew I was forgetting one of the better strapping materials. Yes, you can stuff camo TIGHT under nylon straps. That is a good all-round solution.

Zack taylor widgeon new to me

Allan I think the type of camo you intend to use should impact your decision. Grass rails can be jam packed with less rigid camo. Straps, made of flexible material like rubber, bungee, cord, etc., doesn't hold quite as secure but offers speed and the flexibility to use limbs and thicker...

This is a new video of an old performance. The videography adds some depth to a song that doesn't need any help but it makes for a nice watch.

    Heydey decoys

I never installed the weights in mine and have to upright them after tossing them. I prefer them over any other decoy for walk-in hunting.
