    Life's Greatest Challenges....

Fred I know I enjoyed your ramblings. This week I went to my boss's retirement party, and then I read your post. I'm 59 and I can feel it coming on. I want to work another five and with my daughter in college I must work 2-3 more, but I still feel it coming on. I mean really strong. I have...

    Government Shutdown and Federal Refuges

Only "excepted" federal employees are working. I don't know if refuge employees fit that category. It's usually ones whose duties must be carried out for national security or to protect life and property. Right now the Gov building I work in is a ghost town. Contractors are reporting to...

    Boat blind ideas?

If you design and build your own the design will largely be driven by your building capabilities. For example, do you have a tube bender? What are your skillset and resources? Are you more of a canvas type, wood guy, or sheet metal fabricator?

    Hunting Tragedy in Iowa

I think that article has misrepresented what happened. The victim wasn't mistaken for a squirrel, the hunter who shot him failed to do any sort of identification. He shot where he saw movement. No identification performed.

    Duckstein calls

William I went and found Don's account on IG and gave him a follow. I really like what he's done for a band and hope he gives some insight on how he bends the flat coin into a band. The effect he's getting is outstanding. I need to go back and look and see if he shows his tone boards. That...

    Launching

Congratulations! For certain you are glad to have that project completed and ready to hunt. It turned out terrific. I'm interested to hear how she handles rough water under sail power now that you've tested her in calm conditions and also look forward to the spray skirt addition.

    Starting the AA Broadbill project

Scott I think you'll really like having the dodger. Time well spent. She should be ready to go for this season and with that 25 on the back will flat out haul ass. Are you interested in doing another Arthur Armstrong refurb? My hunting partner has a Wigeon for sale. It needs some work but...

    Making a punt gun

Ian I did a very quick search and found these. A quick scan showed more detailed drawings of punts and punt guns. https://archive.org/details/the-complete-wildfowler-1911/mode/2up https://archive.org/details/Wildfowling/page/n105/mode/2up...

Ian Worth Mathewson originally told me about that book. It might be the best out there on the subject.

    Making a punt gun

Mike Have you come across this book in your research? It has a ton of information on Irish punt gunning. The second half of the book shows several designs. https://archive.org/details/fowlerinirelando00paynrich/page/n3/mode/2up?view=theater

    Help Identify Maker

It may be gone. Not exactly sure what you are referring to. There was a table with manufacturer names and website but it became major PITA to maintain so it got left behind when we migrated to the new forum software. There is a ton of duck boat info in the Resources (link at top of the page)...
