Mojo decoys or any other type of spinning wing decoys ?

Chuck my theory is that the Swans get their attention and the spinners attract them to the spot, or least toward the spot, where I'd like to shoot at them. As Kevin said...just using what I can for a productive hunt.

Mojo decoys or any other type of spinning wing decoys ?

Hi Bill We use them layout hunting to try and position the birds for the cleanest shot possible. We try to avoid long range passing shots that lead to more cripples. Feet down, in the decoys really helps with identification of species and gender.

    My first blocks...

Hi Jon I just shot a video segment of Pat Gregory explaining how to shape a decoy body. He touches on how to make your own patterns. I should have the editing completed this week (it's 3 parts...lots of good info in there). Check it out on www.thedecoyshed.org Tim

Congratulations Jon and thanks for the story. Fathers and kids (and dogs of course) nothing better. I can appreciate your anexity, my son was born 12 weeks early and weighed 2 pounds 2 ounces. However I can happily report that he is now a strapping 19 year old. You've got a...

    Canada Trip

Thanks Phil Are you asking what are the benefits of traveling far up into Canada versus the logistical hurdles, time and costs to get there?

    Canada Trip

Thanks Sonny Another change that occurred this year is that you can purchase your license online versus having to wait until you are in Canada to purchase. You do still have to purchase the Migratory Game Bird Permit at a local post office.

    Canada Trip

Several of us are on our way to Saskatchewan on Friday for a Duck and Goose adventure. Thought I'd take the camera along. I'd like to put together a segment on hunting in Canada, but I'm not really interested in posting a video of more kill shots...we've all seen plenty of those. Let me know...

ok long liners I need some help

I use line, swivels and snaps from Bob Metrich at Decoy Rigs to make my own lines. Bob's line doesn't fade, is the right stiffness (IMO), and sinks. I use brass or stainless swivels and snaps to avoid discloration on my decoys. I thread a swivel onto the mother line then tie my decoys directly...

Great South Bay Scooter Rehab - Part 2

Good stuff Steve. I'd be interested in seeing if a plan could be developed to build a stitch and glue version. When we have the right weather a hunting Scooter could be awesome in few spots I know of. Tim

Opinions on gang rigs and ur setups

I believe John D and those North Carolina boys are on to something with the net rigs. We have a father/son team here in Illinois that began using a net rig last year. I got the opportunity to watch from shore as they set one time last year. They were well practiced...looked like Swan Lake to...

    getting started? (decoys)

Hi Eddie Welcome to Duckboats.net If you haven't already, head over to the decoyshed.org and watch Pat Gregory's suggestions (under the In The Shop tab) on how to get started. As Tom has said you can create a terrific decoy with just a few hand tools, and Willy's site offers many of...
