    Shotgun Shell Reloading Information

Mec presses do just fine and have loaded millions of shells. Nothing wrong with them at all. Just don't expect the factory style tapered crimp on new hulls. As Roy said, once you add the BPI super crown crimp starter the initial crimps turn out a lot better. Henry, the Mec presses can be found...

    Shotgun Shell Reloading Information

Let me start this post off by saying this is solely my opinion, and you know the saying about opinions. Lee Load All: A good press to get a feel for loading shells. You will fight it a good bit to get crimp height right and you need a new press for every gauge. I used one for about a week...

    Who shoots a 28 gauge?

The 28 is plenty of gun. When I could only take one gun to California to shoot ducks, it's what I chose. It's on my lap here after bagging a nice Cinnamon teal.

Anyone else paddle a Mad River Explorer?

Steve, I have never paddled that particular model, but I did have one of the Mad River Solo Canoes for a few years. It was constructed with Royalex and was an extremely durable hull. It wasn't really designed to be a freighter so it didn't work out too well for my duck hunting purposes. It had...

    Who shoots a 28 gauge?

The past 4 or 5 seasons I have carried the 28 gauge more than any other gun. I have a Beretta A400 xplor. I have a side gig loading custom shotshells and doing load development. I've developed some really good 28ga loads that are a duplex of Steel and TSS. It turns the little 28 into quite the...

    Duck dog

I looked at the site and saw them breeding all those junior hunters, which threw up a red flag, then I searched them on google and found this: These are the types of kennels that I would avoid. There is no point in breeding a bunch of junior hunters other than to make a dollar.

    Duck dog

I would do your homework on Pedigrees and Kennels. Lots of boutique breeders out there today breeding with no concern of the standard of the breed. Hunting Lab Pedigree is a great place to find litters and study pedigrees. I ended up driving from NC to Iowa to get my pup, and she was worth every...

    2025 Devlin Snow Goose Thread

Looks like you are well prepared for the flip. It definitely takes 4 people to flip a duck boat gently. Me and my brother flipped over the TDB before I started my project, of course I got the aft end. I think my back is still hurting from that

TDB 14 Classic - "Easy" Fix

I am working outside during this phase of demo and sanding. Once I have all of the sanding prep complete I will bring it in the garage and do the core replacement/fiberglass work inside. I don't want to do all of this sanding indoors, I made quite a mess this past weekend just taking that patch...

TDB 14 Classic - "Easy" Fix

Thanks for all of the tips guys. I'm going to do a little test run and see how accurate I can be with the angle grinder and 40 grit flap discs removing the gel coat. I know it's not a precision tool, but let's face it, I'm going to be fairing the entire bottom of this hull, it doesn't have to be...

TDB 14 Classic - "Easy" Fix

I had planned on using Wetlander, I think it will be perfect to fill in the weave of whatever fiberglass I use on my final layer of the lamination. I am curious on bonding to the gel coat. When I sand the gel coat with 60 grit sheets on my orbital sander, it doesn't do much in the way of...

TDB 14 Classic - "Easy" Fix

No sir, I bought it out of North Central PA. The seller was completely honest about the work it needed, albeit we didn't expect it to be this severe. The price I paid was very low for what I got, which is why I've been willing to pump time and money into it to get it right

TDB 14 Classic - "Easy" Fix

Thanks for all the advice! I will plan on grinding the rest of the epoxy off the patched area to assess the soundness of the balsa core. From what I can see right now it appears to actually look really good, but we'll see. If it's soft I will plan to remove, if not I will glass over with 1708...
