Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

I think I understand. I should be seated just behind the balance point... Thanks Scott

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Oar lock position. Progress has been slow over the last month. I've managed to do a bit of fibreglassing and filleting on the interior of the boat. II have a quick question. There were no oar locks in the boat and I will add a pair. I've found a good description of sizing oars for a boat...

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Makes sense. I have the first knee brace cut out of 3/4" marine plywood. It seems that with slight modifications I can make that knee fit any station.

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

I wish my hull looked like that :-) I've been in the garage all morning making sawdust. It is much easier to fix mistakes with the computer than the bandsaw. But I think you have it now. I can carry the knee out to join up with the new floor support. I could also set the floor support just...

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Eric - I was thinking about your advice to install "knee braces" all day yesterday and then I got your new post. I think I will follow your advice and figure you how to install them. I went back though your post on building the Black Brant to see how the floor was supported. I'm just...

Garboard vs copper tube and plugs?

A thought on drain plugs. I have a thread that's turned into a rebuild of an AA Broadbill ( https://duckboats.net/community/threads/advice-on-sneakbox-aa-broadbill-or-mlb-wigeon.354922/). I'm think that the damage to the hull was a combination of leaving the boat outside uncovered and lack of...

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Don't cut your drawing skills short - I cannot draw in 3D. I thought about leaving part of the old frames to allow a means of attaching knees like you suggest and end up rejecting the idea -- maybe too soon. The added batten is required to support the plywood at their edges. I also thought...

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Well, I thought about it a lot. Had a friend come over and look at it and we agreed that the boat would be much mode practical without those frames.... I just cut them out. It looks much better and it is a lot easier to work on. After thinking about it this is what I decided on. I cut out...

    Fuel line bulb

I agree, original bulbs are usually better in the cold - the best I've had are the Yamaha bulbs. In the we always carry a spare bulb in the boat kit along with a couple of hose clamps, and in the winter we always have a spare fuel line to replace one that is not working.

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

I kind'a knew your answer. I'm still tempted - if they fail it would be a good reason to build a new one ;-) I don't like the idea of attaching the floorboards as mud, hulls etc. tend to cumulate there and they are hard to clear. But it does suggest a compromise that might make the hull...
