    Question

From what I understand, lots of teal being kept up by sheer amount of other hunters. I wasn't there but that was his statement to me. I saw pics from that day. There were 20 rigs where he was and another 25 just down the road. Just the nature of the area. Not a tongue in cheek comment but not...

    Question

I'm still new to this, only been hunting 7 years now. However, both. Throw in moon and photoperiod to complicate things. I can tell you that a couple weeks ago, a buddy had an absolute world-class hunt. Shot 2 boxes of shells in under an hour. I went 2-3 days later, after big heavy cold front...

    Herters heads- where to find?

+1 for Bob if you don't mind foam, he has almost everything you need. I need Toledo heads for a foam Brant rig and he was my go-to.

    Worth getting a bigger motor?

Ditto what everyone said. The 30hp will be more than enough. However, with that being said, don't discount a 25hp 2 stroke 2 cyl either. Some of them are incredibly light. I just picked up a 25hp late 90's Merc 2 stroke, mint. It tips the scales at 112 lbs. I run it on a 13' Duck Invader. First...

    Finally bought a Filson

Nick, The one Tom posted is definitely made in Sri Lanka. The original Filson gear was all USA made, mostly USA material. For me, I just feel if I am buying something for the tried and true Filson reputation, it has to be USA made for me. Now with that being said, if it's a technical jacket...

    Finally bought a Filson

Nick, This is my opinion and I hope to not ruffle any feathers: JacShirt: I don't own one but from what I feel, seems very nice but very expensive. Shelter Upland Coat: I think you might be referring to the tin cloth? Don't go shelter cloth for an upland coat. Go with a true-blue tin cloth...

Who else was at Saw Mill today (hot day)

There were birds there for opener, there are not birds there now. I can tell you because I hunted yesterday and didn't see much. Whatever that was on opening day, it's gone now. Moon, weather change, etc. It's feast or famine there. For me it's like an ex-girlfriend, I keep going back thinking...

Short review of my new 13' Duck Invader

Mike, Really glad you are enjoying the boat. I recently upgraded mine to a 25hp Mercury 2 stroke last month. The 20hp Suzuki is the lightest 4 stroke 20hp on the market. It's a niche motor. It's a very nice fit for that boat. Is that the newer, slightly lower blind that Rich is making? And...

    Finally bought a Filson

Seems like I made this post in good company. Carl, it does seem perfectly matched camo has a place. Behind I boat covered in natural grass though, I think we may be able to get away with a little more. Sean and Tom, unfortunately, they make the new generation waterfowl jackets overseas. That...

    Finally bought a Filson

Right around the time I got into waterfowling and upland, I found myself in an Orvis store (in Manhattan, mind you) looking around at coats and jackets. That was my first intro into waxed cotton, as well as Filson. I remember being confused about the fact I was in Manhattan and they were selling...

    Recognize this Hull?

They are based off a Higbee design. Not a good idea at all. Even the larger "2-man cockpits" built by other builders are not really suited for that. That boat, if I am not mistaken, is a 1-man cockpit design. Hunting out of it with 2 people would be next to impossible. Transporting another...

    Customizing a Duck Invader

Wow. You really transformed this rig into sort of a new-age retromod salt marsh gunning machine. Those flapper boards are definitely reminiscent of a South Bay.

Anyone have any experience with media blasting on fiberglass

Just to be clear, we have never done it ourselves. It's a massive undertaking on our boat. We've done it on small scale in a blasting cabinet and with a portable unit. Cars, bikes, boat parts, etc. As someone mentioned, it's not an uncommon thing to do on fiberglass cars like corvettes. Trust...

Anyone have any experience with media blasting on fiberglass

Absolutely done all the time to more standard recreational boats and sailboats to remove bottom paint. I am by far an expert I have had diesel engines soda blasted as well as a boat bottom. I can tell you, if you want it clean, they will get it clean. I've had diesel engines completely blasted...

    Two Cycle Motor Oil

More than likely being redundant here with what everyone else has said but... Marine 2 cycle outboard oil far exceeds the specs for anything lawn equipment related. That said, it's more than good to use and quite good.

    Long line knots

That's correct. It would be. Personally, I prefer to have my main line shots separate from the decoys. That's the purpose of the LL clips. Pay out the main lines and clip decoys on as you go. Some guys have a way better system. Jeff Coates makes it look easy and I believe he literally leaves all...

    Long line knots

I personally haven't had issues with a bowline tied snug. For the loops, I use a simple overhand dropper loop. Decoy to longline clip gets bowline. Long line clip gets clipped to overhand dropper.

    BBSB SOLD

It's an educated guess but it almost looks like an older KMT. 3 hatches correct? Hunter, dog, gas/storage?

    This is disturbing

What Carl said is true. As people who by default, support gun rights, we often take to these things harshly. This is never going to pass. Rather, it's a "decoy" or bargaining chip. Remember, you never negotiate low. More than likely this will be the starting point to negotiate down.
