Something newbys at breaking ice never take into consideration is those bigger chunks of thick ice when hitting motor can wreck an aluminum prop if your not careful.

Info on Breaking Ice with 14 Classic TDB from TDB owners

Just last season I watched 2 kids in a 1236 aluminum boat trying to break out thru probably 4" of ice . Starting out at an ice free ramp with a bubbler and then down a channel that progressively got thicker heading towards open water in main channel. That channel freezes in thick due to limited...

    Go Devil 1844 rounded chine

Its been my experience that stand up to shoot stability doesn,t start till 48" bottom width in aluminum boats. Of course the wider the better. Now just general riding stability 44" is fine . The rounded chines were made for mud running in the Go Devil boats.

Always wanted one of the 14' TDB hulls. How well , if at all, do they break and inch or two of ice? I,ve broke plenty in different hulls so not really concerned with techniques, just if hull will get damaged severely? Doesn,t happen often in my area but of course its the best gunning if you can...

    Do it all boat?

That 12' Creek boat without the Battery bx in middle has tugged at my "need one " feelings for a while. I believe they're Roto Molded so should be fairly light weight. Just about perfect to piggy back off a bigger boat.

    Launching

Someone on here years ago made push pole shafts from Bamboo. If I recall they heated the shaft and what material weaped out made them waterproof. Neat way to make a push pole. Can add any foot required to it. I've shied away from closet rod after one broke on me and became a pungee that almost...

    Boat blind ideas?

Commercial blinds by Beavertail & Mud buddy work good. If you hunt with a dog you'll need to add a dog door in beavertail. If building yourself build something along lines of Mud Buddy style as its easiest to construct. The important thing on any of them is to have your brushing close in over...
