Non duck related - New Orleans recommendations...

Go to Lafayette or Brossard or Lake Charles or New Iberia or Abbeville or Shreveport/Bossier. But whatever you do avoid NO during the Mardie gra season, like it has the black plague. I'm from Louisiana and I would avoid NO at all cost.

    They're SO CLOSE!!!

I'm not sure about their videos or what not. I had called them to ask about a 25 horse version of their surface drive. While talking about what they were working on, the guy over at Freedom tells me that. They had did away with their motor with the surface drive lower unit and that their...

My info came straight from Freedom.

    They're SO CLOSE!!!

The freedom outboard is not a mudmotor. It has a typical outboard lower unit and is not designed to be used in straight mud like a surface drive is. Freedom no longer makes the surface drive unit they once did, just the closed loop outboard unit now.

    They're SO CLOSE!!!

I'm not putting my big backside in a yak or canoe in gator country lol. I hunt straight from my sneak boat with the copperhead and soon the gtr mini.

    HDPE boat

If you set the transom up to run and handle the big block surface drives. You could find a limited want for it. But with the weight of these boats, I don't really see a want for such a heavy boat for duck hunting.

    They're SO CLOSE!!!

The pics I have seen. Is it's welded to the bottom of the boat, with two hose attachments that stick up through the floor. The skeg would have been the better place for it, as the skeg is always in the water/mud. Only reason I could see them doing it the way they did, is to get around Freedom...

    They're SO CLOSE!!!

The outboard power head and closed loop cooling system, plus the quieter exhaust is the way forward, and has been needed in the surface drive world for 20 years. But the fact that they designed it to have to be welded to the boat and not designed to be part of the motors skeg, is pants on head...

    HDPE boat

Yep. Triple layup up to the rub rails and top of transom and bow, then wetlander. Decks just get one layer of 6oz glass and three layers of paint.

    HDPE boat

Oh I'm 100% sure it's very quiet. I been wanting to duplicate a duckhunter out of aluminum and either pair it with my 23 horse copperhead or a new 23 gtr mini. But can't find a shop to work with to build it, they all want to use way to thick of aluminum for my wants/needs. So next boat will...

I did some Google fuu and researching after I seen that vid a few days ago. I would love to build a duckhunter out of it. Was going to order it and the welding rig and do a full build. But good God that stuff is so heavy. The boat in that vid. Is 1100 lbs dry hull weight. I have seen aluminum...

Need feedback on 3D printers- hobby usage

I have a few friends that are pretty heavy into that. I will tell you what everyone of them have told me. Get way more machine then you think is necessary. The machine most of them pointed me towards for doing my own personal aka "hobby" stuff. Was a couple of grand price wise like two years...

    Sneak box boats

A kara boat will not compare to a sneak boat in any metric you care to measure. Stability, sea worthiness, load caring, power options, usability, adaptability to hunt needs. I mean one type is a actual boat and the other, I would classify as a decked over kayak or canoe at best And a apology...

    Sneak box boats

Ok what he and you are calling a "sneakbox" is actually what everyone else would call a sneak boat. There is a file section here on this forum, full of discriptions and pics of various sneak boats aka sneakbox. Devlin boat designs has several boats that fit that description and design. Having...

Duckboat Detectives - The latest case

Cool. So they are "trim tabs" . Used to help offset the fact that the boat has to much weight on or near the transom to float or run at min draft because the hull bottom is to narrow and or to much rear hull rocker. Still cool idea to see them on the side hull like that.

Bluebill revised plans vs older plans.

I was morely interested if he had changed the call out plywood thickness's. My plans have a 2000 year production date on them. I still haven't called them to find out, been to busy to sit down and make the call.
