    Season recap...

Tod I bought a little wand-like metal detector on Amazon for finding pellets. Works great for steel, not as great for bismuth and unfortunately that's what I'm shooting these days. Hasn't presented an issue yet as I've been double grinding breasts for sausage and snack sticks and I'm very...

    Black Ducks and Black Dogs...

Was nice talking to your brother the other day, he told me about that pintail but great to see the pic!

    Decoy spread

Greg basically said it all. When it's mild like it's been you are going to have a tough time decoying birds unless you are doing everything perfect and are where they want to be. When it gets mild like this I go to my areas that the birds are always going to for food, water or rest. You need...

    Killing Cripples Quickly and Humanely

I've had two scotch doubles this week shooting #4 bismuth out of my 20 gauge so that's at least one way to make it more efficient! Also folded a snow goose at 45 yards with the 20 the other day too, the boss stuff continues to impress me.

Yamaha 25hp Two Stroke Electric Start Question

Eric, on mine it is mounted on the lower front side of the shifter box on the tiller.

    Killing Cripples Quickly and Humanely

I switched to the copper plated bismuth last season, shooting exclusively 20 gauge #4s and I found that I cripple far less birds than with steel. Is it worth the massive upcharge? I'll leave that up to the end user. I'll have to pay closer attention to the bismuth shattering on bone contact...

Advice needed - soft fitting to run gas line through afterdeck

Steve a fitting for a VHF or radar cable, if large enough, might work. They have a rubber insert you can cut to size.

    Question

Lots to unpack in this post! In regards to shooting the barrel hot, we've all had those days, I can't speak for other hunters and anecdotal internet postings. For me it's dealing with cripples that I start to see my shell counts dwindle, not as much of an issue since I switched to shooting...

Need help regarding hunting in Massachusetts

I believe there's a use permit needed out of some Chatham ramps now, I've launched out of Pamet harbor and it's a $10 fee paid once you return to the ramp. But with NJ plates they literally were asking for the money as we were winching the boat onto the trailer and didn't want to wait until we...

Need help regarding hunting in Massachusetts

Ditto on making sure of the ramp and parking rules. I've done many fall bluefin trips on the cape and it's a great place, but the harbormasters don't fool around.

    Ammo

I shot Boss exclusively this season out of my 20 gauge, performed great for me. I need to order more for next season and they have a one month lead time on case orders by the looks of it.

    South Bay Duck Boat Seating

I use a cut down milk crate and the (old style) momarsh invislounge, though i don't have a southbay. Hunting two adults side by side is pretty tight. I used to sit on a throwable pfd seat cushion way back when I had a southbay. In my my boat my seats are set up so the flappers are at my...

    New boat, need battery help

Yep I've been to the East Penn / Deka factory and it's impressive. They make all the batteries for west marine, etc. I have Dekas in my big boat and they haven't let me down. I have an Enersys pure lead AGM in my roy boat, never even need to put it on a trickle charge. Cranks every time.

Southbay duckboat who owns them ?

Hunted out of an original 80s model with my father growing up, we ran a 15 hp and later a 25 hp hunting coastal NJ. Still have plenty of friends that use them with great success on the NJ salt marshes. My dad and I have since gone to schellinger high boxes, which I feel are a slightly better...

What is in your bag? January 2021

Spoonies get a bad rap in most of the country but they are a treat for us NJ folks. They sure work and decoy nice, like goofy looking teal.

    Need Help IDing a Hybrid

Black duck / mallard hybrid for sure. Very common to shoot in NJ, Mexican mallard not so much.
