Crazy Diver Decoy Idea Or Not ?

As crazy as this sounds, I have been toying with the idea of getting empty 1 gallon Clorox bleach jugs, mounting a keel board to the bottom using a toggle screw, and spray painting the black body/wing detail onto the white jugs using a template. I'm thinking 96 diver decoys for $100 and my time...

    Thought on Opening Day.

Yes, I should have been more clear in my original answer. I would try to find private land to hunt or a creek running through private land to hunt..... Thanks for clarifying what I meant to say Dave.

    Thought on Opening Day.

Hmmm..... I don't know much about Long Island at all; however, a new pup, sky busting, and a bunch of yahoos spells out a recipe for a disastrous day afield. Can you not find a small pot hole, pond, or creek to set beside ?

Finally picked up my sneak box

I could be wrong but as I recall the hulls are displacement hulls and you won't get speeds like you would out of a planning hull boat, even with a larger outboard engine. I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong, please do so. Very nice looing boat !

One Duck Hunting Tool Most Guys Never Think About

I agree. I'm pretty excited to give diver hunting an honest shake this year. I have a buddy who constantly ridicules my excitement to go after divers this year with comments about how the ducks will taste... Its really starting to get on my nerves but I've held my tongue so far. I did a pan...

    Carrots.... and stuff

It looks like a great time, and a great bunch of Ol' Greybeard duck hunters. I really wish I could have made it but I just had too many fires to tend to. Thanks for sharing....

    "It" has finally arrived!

Great job, Great story ! I'm also thankful for another year afield after my terrible car crash back in July. While standing there in the dark on opening morning, waiting to launch our boat into the pond, I sent up a prayer thanking the man upstairs for my blessings, and for his grace and mercy...

    Alumacraft "Ducker" square stern model??

Are you, or the seller, sure its not a Grumman Sportboat, (AKA Sport Boat, SportCanoe, or Sportee) ? The Sportboat is 15' 4" long, 43" wide, and has a square stern.

Hail call Steve Sanford, need paint information!

Very interesting paint scheme on the boat. I thought it would be better to blend in but you're saying its better to have a stark contrast because it breaks up what we would otherwise see as a boat.... That's very different from how I have ever viewed camouflage. Gives me something to think...

    NDR: Franchi 48 AL question....

I have a 20 gauge Franchi 620, Quail Unlimited edition. I love the gun. Beautiful wood with gold quail in flight on the receiver. Easy to carry all day. Well, not so much since my accident but nonetheless... The gun does have a quirk or two. Once you get used to them and accept them, its no...

Interior / Exterior Home Decorating Ideas......

I'm looking to do a complete interior / exterior redecorate of my home. I want to do this in a waterfowl, turkey, deer theme. I'd like each room to have its own theme with the living room being the focal point done in a waterfowl theme. Has anyone else done this ? Where did you draw your...

    How would you fix this?

I think I'd put the handle in a drill press vise, and drill an oversize hole straight down through it. Then mark the shaft of the paddle with the drill bit inserted through the handle, and drill as near straight as possible down into the shaft with the oversize drill bit. Insert an undersize...

Next duck boat project, ON THE WATER!

I need to make a new spray shield/dodger for my boat, too. I have the old one for a pattern. I thought about sending it up to Dave Clark but economics may force me to do it myself, or at least attempt it myself. I've thought about making a complete blind that zips up pretty snug for the...

Like B.B. said: "The thrill is gone....."

I agree. Cabelas has been a big disappointment to me too ! We had a new store open in Noblesville, Indiana. I stopped in on my way to pick up my Sportspal canoe in a nearby town. I wanted to shop for 10 gauge shotgun shells and waist high waders. They had 6 boxes of Hypersonic BB 10 gauge in...

A pheasant hunters perspective on duck hunting

I did that with deer hunting. I think I've settled down now after 35 plus years of Whitetail deer hunting. I did buy a couple of guns last year in anticipation of some rule changes, that never happened.... When I really got back into waterfowl hunting last year, I bought a MLB Chuck Huff...
