    Drones

Not specific to drone scouting, but I think there are those who see scouting, beyond observation from afar with field glasses, as unethical or unsportsmanlike. Property managers, be they public or private, can sometimes act like parents before Christmas....don't let the kids see the presents.

    Drones

I think the key takeaway is that you can't be physically present on the TVA land while operating the drone over prohibited areas. If you do it from adjacent private land, there's likely nothing they can do to stop you. Provided of course, that you adhere to all FAA regs regarding UAV operation.

    December Workbench

I wasn't satisfied with last years gunning coffin build. They were plain jane with no canvas, the way my family did it pretty much forever. This year, I re-learned how to sew making a dodger for the BBSB pond box. It seemed like the right move to enhance the coffins, so here we are. I also gave...

    Aging Ducks; Anyone Try This?

They didn't call it ripening for nothing.

    Drones

Drones are a lot of fun. I've tinkered with them a little, several friends have them but I have not jumped in. I don't have the bug yet, I'm thinking "wait til the batteries are better". You mentioned taking the test. I don't know what percent of drone operators take it, but plenty don't play...

    Anchor rode upgrades...

Yes, loop is great with gloves or hands are cold. It also reduces the chance of an icy line slipping through your hands at the launch. I'm not a fan of black line, and I agree 200 is a lot for your needs. Ill pay premium for what i want, but not for a compromise unless its an emergency. I'm...

    All Things Flocking

The decoys i flocked as a result of this thread have been on a half dozen hunts. My buddies rave about them, mostly flocking in general rather than my attempt at applying it. The consensus is that the ducks like them a lot, as we have many birds drop right in, in locations where they would...

    Anchor rode upgrades...

I have the New England double braid white/gold stuff in my boats for general anchoring duty. I believe it's a variety of 7/16 and 1/2". For painters and rode when hunting I use the 7/16" olive braid that Decoy Rigs sold. Someone told me Bob retired, I don't know for sure. It does get stiff...

Who Hunts With A Black Powder Shotgun?

SJ, Dumb question perhaps, but it seems that the best way to get buy with less schoke on a black powder breech loading shotgun would be to use modern plastic shot cups? To make room for black powder, perhaps trimming off the collapsible portion with a razor? RM You need a wad to seal the gas...

    Primitive Weapon Duck Hunting

I'm not sure it would even constitute harassing. More like amusing or entertaining them.

    Primitive Weapon Duck Hunting

A warden would have to be a real hardass to not be amused by a duck hunter with a blowgun, slingshot or atlatl. I'd like to see video's of someone trying with any of the above. Many videos of guys trying to shoot ducks with a shotgun are horrifying, they shoot boxes of shells to get a couple of...

Who Hunts With A Black Powder Shotgun?

I hunted with black powder shotguns on a regular basis in the 70's and 80's. It was my dad's passion, he was a collector of anything old having to do with waterfowl. Almost all my experience duck hunting with BP is with breechloaders, both hammer and hammerless. I have very little experience...

    FWC Mottled Duck vs. Mallard

Sadly, I haven't been down that way in many years. As you pointed out, places we hunted are developed. Not the same area, but the best goose spot we had was a golf course down the coast a bit to the west. The superintendent was happy to let us in there and we always got a limit. When he retired...

    FWC Mottled Duck vs. Mallard

It is possible that some who hunt in the little Orange cutout work for DEEP and don't want competition. Makes one wonder if they like ambiguity, maybe it keeps out the riffraff. Therefore, I would guess your clarification will not be printed until they retire. Farewell, I say.
