Tod do you have any suggestions on the extra Keels? I know you or Mike SID can mold me the lead, just wondering how I attach them

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

The only thing we got was meeting a new person who lives next to the Audubon center who so kindly let us land on his property after watching us try to fight the wind for 20 minutes. Drove us to our trucks and told us about duck hunting the area 55 years ago. Very nice man, he has a little free...

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

Exhibit A and B. I know the windy is nasty today here in New England, but the non homer geese right themselves just fine. We eventually gave up and left them in the dead goose pose

    2022-23 season

Bit if a flip flop season for me (though it fully ends 2/15). Minimal ducks, lots of geese. Did have a banner day on the eve of the duck closer shooting my limit in under an hour, and a solo field day 1 short of an early season goose limit. Should have had it too, just couldn't shoot right the...

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

Steve, I did get some other heads in different positions I plan to Mount onto half of these to see if anything changes. They're wood, so they won't be as indestructible, but better than righting a whole bunch every hunt! One day when late goose ends I'll get to it

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

Over here in the Dixie of New England we don't have the shallow water issues. It's more of "how much line do we need? I do mostly tidal hunting, some swings are 8'! Noted on both. Will give it a shot

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

Probably. I used the ones that came with the foam. Or a heavier weight. Ken I will try that as well.

    Homer decoys- righting themselves, tricks?

I have 2 dozen Homer geese, and man for the life of me I always run into a situation where they don't right themselves. It's usually only one or two in the spread. Just curious if anyone has any tricks or tips as to how to correct this? They're all single strung. The weights are in them. It's...

BRING YOUR GUNNING VESSEL to Hauppauge on March 4

I assume the gunning rigs should be cleaned of empty shells, blood, feathers, and mud?

    Goose subspecies

Glad we don't have restrictions on subspecies in CT. Plenty of the winged beef cruising around. I wish hunting suppressed was legal here, would open a lot more resident goose zone control opportunities. That being said, I would have a very hard time IDing on the wing without my glasses which...

    Goose subspecies

Good to know. I did find the attached that would seem to match. The resident birds here are typically pretty big so they were noticeably smaller. Either way, neat to get this year. Haven't had any in the past

    Goose subspecies

Don't see one, but noticeably smaller than a standard Canada. Maybe a lesser? The bills are tiny!

    Goose subspecies

Curious if the goose gurus are here. Local biologist says any bill under 38mm (1.496") is a cackler here in CT. Curious as to your thoughts on subspecies. Every time I have hit this goose field since late November it has resulted in this subspecies. Early season was the true long necked resident...
