Don, first where are you located? There are ice boat clubs all over the US.Check out iceboats.org, it is located with a ton of info and a great swap site. I own a boecraft skeeter and a partially finished DN. The hardware is expensive. Very fast sport and a lot of fun.

    Beaver Pond Blind Project

Check with local dec about treated lumber. Try to get a lease, so you can put in a little money and labor into the project. I have hunted a private land for 65 years and have a great relationship with the family.

We all read the tragic news of those that duck hunt and loose their lives pursuing the sport. Here's a story we can learn from.

Sounds like they were prepared. Hunting in a group of three is a good idea. Glad they are safe.

    New Skeet gun rec?

Paul, I agree with SJ. Can't beat a Rem 1100 / 1187, price wise you could get a 12 and 20 for you and the family. Try hunting the pawn and gun shops around the area. Stop at a few eanges and look at the for sale boards. If you are new, ask a lot of questions. Also rem barrels are inexpensive on...

    Boat/motor question

Bob, shear pin or slip clutch in prop should have worked? I took a adult ed course on out boards so I could repair my own motors. Always have 1-2 extras around. Prices for new water pumps, etc saves a couple of dollars.

    Duck Hunter Drowns on Guntersville

Dave, I prefer a full pfd in a kayak or canoe as they aren't as stable as my duck boat. My inflatable I use in the southbay as it is very stable. It doesn't have as much flotation as a regular pfd. I always wear one underway.

    Duck Hunter Drowns on Guntersville

In a kayak I would use a pfd. In my duckboat I use a inflatable when underway. Also carry a pfd and a throwable cushion for my bottom. Be safe out there, the life you save may be your own.

    Gunsmith Question

Can't beat a W12. I shot trap for years with a W12 mag. Shot ducks with another one till I shot from my duck boat. Couldn't pump it going to the right, bought my first new gun Rem 1187. Still own 10-12 W12's.
