    Processing Tupelo for planks?

The family land has a large swamp on it that is full of old Tupelo. Some look like they are larger than six feet wide at the base. The family is all for me cutting how much I want/need and some of the family have even offered the use of heavy equipment and/or help getting the logs out. I was...

Help/Advice - E Allen Decoys and cork dust

I use the Golden Mattes with the grey lids. Buy the base coats in gallons. Saves money. Buy mine from Italian Art Store. Price increase on Golden due after the first of the year. Not sure how much of an increase. I like the Golden Mattes because they are not chalky. I tried Jansen's but marred...

Help/Advice - E Allen Decoys and cork dust

I used Titebond II because TB III was not developed yet. I used Goldens over it and it has held up great. I have used the TB III on my corks this year but have yet to hunt them. From just handling the TB III ones I think I like the TB II better. Seems to make a harder shell. We will see after...

    Ben Schmidt Decoy Photos?

I am looking for a couple of photos of a Ben Schmidt Canvasback. A shot from the front and rear would be great... looking down the bill and tail. Also if anyone knows how wide the head is would help greatly as well. Any other photos would be great too. Going to try to make a few decoys in Ben...

    Perfect decoy size?

Looking to simplify my decoy patterns. Divers all the same except for the heads. Majority of puddlers all of the same except for the heads. Thinking about 14"x8"x5" for divers and 16"x7"x5" for puddlers. What is the perfect size for all of you?

    Hardwood Keel Material?

I have always used just whatever I had. Lately got on the kick of the Trex. Now I want nicer looking natural wood keels. I have herd that some hardwoods will eventually split for some reason. Might be an old wive's tale or might be true. What are some materials to look at?

    Planing Decking Composite??

Tried the tablesaw but leaves an unevevn line on the ripped side. While not too bad it is not desired. I have cut some of this stuff on the bandsaw and haven't had any problems with it gumming up. I don't really foresee any problems with it gumming up a planner but wanted to ask before I messed...

Thanks! Tony, I do Pbase and Google and love them both but need a book for taking out to the shop. Cork and wood dust isn't very laptop friendly.

Golden Heavy Matte Gel in the rig?

Was wanting to do some combing on some decoys and have a large jar of this stuff. Only wanted to use it if it is durable enough to use in the rig without having to retexture for several years. These decoys will be used almost everyday the whole season on longlines. Any input appreciated.

what would you get for a duck coat?

I like the Columbia stuff. Lifetime warrenty and warm. Having said that I have never found a waterfowling jacket that was waterproof for very long. I hunted a sandbar with a buddy one day. It was raining hard so I knew to pack some extra jackets. I had 4 extra "waterproof" namebrand jackets in...
