I have some of the Avery slotted bags and my Herter's fit nicely in them.

I trestle coat mine and then paint with Golden Mattes, JansenArt Traditions and Chromas. Never had a problem with it coming off..... even by scraping it on concrete.

Anyone have pics of the decoys from this company? They made cork decoys that looked really good. As I remember they sold decoy rigging as well. Had several of their catalogs at one time but never did get to order anything. Was wanting to see some of their work and possibly model some decoys...

Found a 2 HP dust collector but it filters 5 microns. I was thinking the lower the number the better it filters but the ad said this will get the smallest harmful dust. Is the ad wrong?

A buddy gave me some Tupelo but it all looks like it was just hacked off of the bell. It is not square by any means and some pieces are almost triangular shape. Got enough for quite a few teal bodies if I could square it up but not sure how to go about it. Any thoughts?

Why not use sand? It wouldn't rot. From my experience the paint seems to soak into sawdust making a very durable coating. I have made hundreds of decoys using Titebond II and acrylic paint and don't have to worry about the paint nor rotting.

Not from Michigan but seeing decoys made by Ben Schmidt is the only reason I ever wanted to start carving. Just something about his birds. Would love to find copies of patterns that he used. Sean, Is there a place a person could get that book?
