Last Week of the Season: Who's Hunting?

Yesterday will probably be the last day of the season for me. I went to my favorite place, not necessarily the most productive area as of late, but the marsh is definitely my happy place. It was a beautiful day, high 20's to low 30's, light winds mostly cloudy skies. The geese were honking on...

Last Week of the Season: Who's Hunting?

I was out today for late season goose. As usual I was covered in ducks! I shot this one.......with my cell phone camera. We started out with little to no ice, but was iced in after a while.

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"

I can help when a 3rd person is necessary. I plan on sneaking a peek of the boat building process too

Well that didn't go like it was supposed to... motor trouble question?!?!?!?!

I'm in CT too. I've been buying buckets of "race" fuel. I'm currently using Renegade brand. I get a good price from a buddy, but it's still $85 for 5 gallons. I decided to use the non ethanol Renegade because I don't want to have to worry about the gas through the multiple duck goose splits...

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"

Will the TDB 17 hunt 4 people comfortably? I've never hunted on one.

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"

@Nick Zito what does The Boss say about what you should do?

"We're gonna need a bigger boat"

Not the most cost effective way, but you definitely need a second boat Nick. The 19 will be great for the harbor and sound, but I'll be able to watch you from the boat ramp when you are in the marsh! When the water goes down and the mud comes up, a larger boat might get stuck like a suction cup...

Today was last day of duck here in CT. Beautiful duck hunting weather. We got our 2 scaup each, and we're satisfied.

Towing cross country on small trailer tires...

@Jay K got me thinking. Over 25 years ago trailering our 1964 14' fiberglass MFG duck boat, just an open hull, the trailer axle broke. We were on I 91 in CT, pulled over, then looked over the situation for a bit. Somehow, I don't know how we did it, we put all the decoys, the boat, motor...

Towing cross country on small trailer tires...

That is good common practice for normal local use, in my opinion. I would "rebuild " with new bearings, races and seals before a cross country trip for peace of mind. I'd rather start out new to avoid a failure. On my motorcycle, I replace the bearings on most tire changes, especially since...

    Pouring Decoy Anchors

In my own experience, my weights would become brittle and week when I heated my lead too hot. If I keep the pot on high heat after it melts, the weights are kinda brittle. After my lead is all liquid, I turn down the heat. If it starts to harden up, I up the heat. It's not too difficult to find...
