Have you changed in the last 10 years? Post up a photo

2010 Sea Duck Banding (voluntarily) while working toward becoming a full time biologist (ended up a deer biologist despite my waterfowl efforts): 2020: A year and a half removed from Government work to preserve my sanity, running my own waterfowl taxidermy business (and selling a few decoys)...

    What's on your WORK BENCH ? - March 2020

Lots of Black Ducks going this month, this one I kinda like a bit more than the others, I might keep her And Had a lot of pheasants come in all in the same clip back in November, I was able to get a quick photo before they started going to their respective homes:

    What's on your WORK BENCH ? - February 2020

Steve, WOW! I knew you were the right guy to restore that mallard for me! He will rest proudly alongside his Old Saybrook brethren Pintail and Wigeon drakes on my shelf, but maybe I'll take him down to old saybrook next december to see to show him his home town and see if he has one more hunt...

    With a shattered heart

I can't believe I missed this... I never had the pleasure of meeting Steve in person but we exchanged a handful of (always colorful) emails over the years, to label him a "character" was an understatement. I always remember him picking on me (possibly on this site) for saving the cork from...

    November Workbench

Thank you Steve! These sail feathers are made from leather. I typically use leather on birds that will be hunted and Hardwood inserts on decoys that will live on a shelf.

    Looking for a ringneck/ringbill pattern

Heres my take on the ringer...with a couple of head variations. I Just draw the top view of the head indivdually on the wood and the side of the body i do the same, makes every decoy a bit different.

The boat is amazing....but no need for a trailer has me sold!!! I've often thought of building a sneak that was catered to the dimensions of my truck bed. My next build for sure haha. Man do I hate trailers!

    What was your first Duck

Hen Bufflehead From a Devlin (Scaup?) laying out with my dad, the boat built by dad and his friends. Niantic Bay, 1992, with my 870 I still use today...I've had many guns since buy they just dont make them like they used to [cool] and that gun has outlasted them all.

What's on your workbench - February

Thanks Mark, I'm a wood hoarder (I bet most of us carvers/boat builders are[;)]) so I use whatever fits the bird from marine ply to pine board to cedar scrap...that being said I believe these are both marine ply scrap. This Black Duck I did last night uses cedar salvaged from an old closet lining!

    The things you would miss.

Cool Stories all! Watching Raptors while duck hunting seems to be a common thread for many of us, here are my favorite two...sorry I cant choose just one! First was on a local salt marsh known for its Short-eared owls in the winter. I watched for quite a while as one of the (winter) resident...
