    Fuel bags and jack plates

I'm not expert, but I think the purpose of the ethanol is an octane booster and I'm not sure you's want to run the engine for any amount of time with the octane too low.

    Fuel bags and jack plates

The video and pictures show a flexible spout built in to the bag. But as Matt mentioned, you always seem to have a spill with these. We've often used fuel can adaptors (looks like Tod made his own) that allow you to hook up you fuel lie directly to a gerry can. I don't have pictures, but the...

    Aging Ducks; Anyone Try This?

I age birds too. As long as the temperature is cool enough. When I was young I hunted with a Scotsmen and a South African and they aged ducks until the head separated. I've never done that - a stray shot in the gut can turn a bird green. If I'm going to pluck I hang for a day or to firm up...

    Fuel bags and jack plates

That is a very good idea. My little Suzuki is just back from a service and they noted problems with the gas. We have no options at the pump for gas without ethanol. You can get ethanol free gas but it is very expensive. I think you have the perfect solution. Thanks for that idea.

    Fuel bags and jack plates

Hey Steve, When rebuilding the floor I thought about access under the rear deck, but I obviously did not think access for a fuel tank under the front deck. The are some cans that would go in. I've done a lot of work out small zodiacs and we used to have a gas bladder that fit into V in the...

    Fuel bags and jack plates

FYI I have a AA Broadbill that I rebuilt last winter. After using it a bit this season I can see I made a couple of mistakes. I modified the frames in the boat and rebuilt the floor. The fuel tank was located under the front deck and there was a hatch in the deck to access the tank. I did...

    Primitive Weapon Duck Hunting

I have a book that should be in my library ... that is somewhere and I cannot find it. That describes how the Inuit hunt eiders in the winter with no weapons -- just smarts. Some eiders winter parts of Hudson Bay and other areas of the western Arctic. In fact there are 2-300,000 that over...

    Primitive Weapon Duck Hunting

You could add kiipooyaq. This is the word Inuit use for a bola that was traditionally used for hunting birds. The Inuit used it for ducks and geese and the mi'kmaq (maritime Indians) used a similar device for hunting shorebirds. I'm sure it was used by most indigenous cultures for hunting...

    Anchor rode upgrades...

I have several types of rope on board and they change with the season. My Main anchor line is a couple hundred feet of 3/8" double braid. I have a second rope of 1/2 twisted nylon that is used for a tow line or for a second anchor. But these are pretty much useless the temperatures drop below...

To Those That Participate on FB Duck Hunting Groups

Hey Eric, The Inuit are very active on FaceBook. I am a member of one group "Inuit Hunting Stories of the Day". They post a lot, but not much of interest. I think you really need to join a group at the community level. There are Inuit that post on the Duck Hunters of Newfoundland group...
