More uses than just floor stain...

This is a fabulous recipe for turkey legs & thighs. I've made it several times successfully. https://honest-food.net/turkey-leg-stew-recipe/ I have made many of Hank's recipes and loved every one.

    Anybody Recognize the Black Brant?

Yep, Buzz was who I was thinking of. My first intro to a Devlin design was in the early '90s up in N. Wisconsin. Met the builder of a BB1 at a boat ramp when he was launching with his 100+# Chessie.

    Anybody Recognize the Black Brant?

Ad says it's a modified BB1 but couldn't it be a BB2? Hard to tell with the modified transom. In the DHBP early days a BB2 with a modified transom was built by a Floridian - can't remember his name though (Jamie?).

    Steel shot for upland hunting

"It's not the steel's fault that some days I am a sucky shot [laugh]" Hahaha, more of us should adopt that mantra Dani.

MDO - what is the downside?

I appreciate your input Fred. I hadn't considered Coosa board because I thought it might be a little expensive. Well I checked it out today - holey moley it's almost 10X the cost of MDO. In any case, the MDO has been cut, doubled, epoxied and set in place.

MDO - what is the downside?

I was fortunate that one corner came out intact enough that I was able to trace the perimeter onto cardboard. Some additional measurements got me to the centerline. After determining that the cardboard was accurate, I transferred it to 1/4" sacrificial luan. The luan mock-up told me that my...

MDO - what is the downside?

Ed, I couldn't wait any longer, I've got a fishing trip to Lake Erie coming up in early May. The total shocker for me was how much of the transom had turned into "worm bedding", at least 60-70%. I went through most tools in my toolbox trying to figure out what's going to work. As it turned...

MDO - what is the downside?

Hi Ed, Thanks for your input. The MDO looks good so far. All cut, shaped and ready for epoxy today. Both the A/B Marine and the MDO are made by Roseburg, Oregon. I've used their products before without a problem - I hope my expectations are not misplaced. I was turned on to MDO by a...

    Syrup question

I had a taste of Birch syrup as well as Birch wine when I was in Newfoundland the first time. Iighter in color and flavor than maple syrup but still tasty. While maple syrup is 40-50:1, it takes 100 gallons of birch sap to produce 1 gallon of syrup.

Red Hills Quail Forever fundraising tower shoot

Loads of fun for sure Dani - thanks. I'm surprised there were so many bird's left over, that's a lot of great eating. I've never had a failure with any of Hank's recipes, probably because his flavor profiles are right up my alley.

Has anyone ever corned goldeneye breasts?

I would say "try it with a couple", you never know, it could be your next taste sensation. Personally, I have a much better recipe for GE than corning. My all time favorite game meat for corning is midwest black bear - excellent 👍

Has anyone ever corned goldeneye breasts?

I've corned bear, deer, elk, moose and one Canada Goose but no ducks. Of the lot the goose was my least favorite, just way too lean. If I ever did goose again I'd corn it then smoke/dry it and slice really thin like dried beef. I suspect duck might be pretty similar.

MDO - what is the downside?

Price is similar to doug fir AB Marine. Both are made by the same company - Roseburg. MDO was designed for exterior sign applications. MDO is the only plywood one Wisconsin boat restorer uses for replacement transoms - prior to his recommendation MDO wasn't in my knowledge base.

MDO - what is the downside?

It appears to be readily available in Wisconsin. Menards big box home center here had 7 sheets of 3/4" MDO.

MDO - what is the downside?

Thanks Steve, did you need to do any prep on the smooth surface prior to epoxy?

MDO - what is the downside?

It looks really good for a transom application.

MDO - what is the downside?

I'm replacing the transom wood in a 1995 Lund. Doubled up MDO has been recommended but I've not used that material before. Plan is to incase in epoxy. Any downsides I should be aware of?
