It's funny how I invision areas of the country and then I learn I'm so wrong. Figured you would get a wide variety of puddle ducks, divers, and even some seaducks. I've shot two greaters ever. Both killed on the Ohio River (drake and hen).

I'm assuming you get a mixture of Greater (Broadbill), and Lesser (Bluebill) Scaup? This was my first season to harvest a Redhead, awesome birds! I haven't shot a Canvasback in years. I really wish we got more divers here. The lack of harvesting Goldeneyes, amazes me. How many do you estimate...

Hey Tod, does this qualify as nasty?

I figured you would get some Eider, Old Squaw, and Scoters up that far north. And always thought the whole East Coast had Greater Snows in the fall/winter. Shows how much I know. Do you have any photos of Brant hunts you care to share?

Hey Tod, does this qualify as nasty?

Do you shoot many hybrids there (Mall/Blacks)? Have shot quite a few here. What kind of Canada Goose "subs" ya shoot there? Here it is mainly Greaters, with a few Lessers mixed in, although I have seen some smaller Canadas which I'm guessing were Richardson's mixed in flocks. But have yet to...

Hey Tod, does this qualify as nasty?

Well that answers that question, LOL. Maybe grind them up and make a chili? Just trying to think of different things to do with the meat. But you are talking to a guy that enjoys Lion and Bobcat, soooooo .... LOL. I appreciate the offer on the hunt, I'm sure it would be a great time. What all...

Hollywoods came to town.(actually the local duck pond)

Wow, that one looks very dark. Sure that isn't a Mexican?? It's just a question as I don't know much about them. Just that the few Mottled Ducks I have seen (dead/mounted) were of a lighter color. Thanks for sharing the photos!

Thanks again Carl. Do you use both a headline, and sternline? I suppose it would depend on how many are hunting and your spread. But had to ask. Looks like you shoot some Redheads and Bluebills down that way. NICE !

Hey Tod, does this qualify as nasty?

I can understand you not wanting to hunt something you can't use. I'm the same way. Seems like you could season up the seaducks heavy to cover the taste, have you ever tried making jerky out of them? I'm just guessing as I have never had the chance to hunt seaducks, so I haven't tried eating...

    Let's see/hear it .....

Well this season I didn't get out much, but I did share most of the hunts I went on with my younger brother (which is just getting into hunting) so there were alot of memories made. As far as photos I can't get into my Photobucket accounts for some reason. But I will share a story if it will get...

Hollywoods came to town.(actually the local duck pond)

Man !! those drakes sure are pretty! Don't see many of those here. I believe that the older birds imprint on areas they have been safe and food abundant in the past, and the younger birds follow. Also the numbers build and build all season long as they aren't being displaced by hunting pressure...

    Let's see/hear it .....

New here, and really enjoy the stories and photographs that some share on here. So since the season has ended for the majority of us. Anyone care to share some stories/photos from this past season, to help ease the waterfowling bug thats biting so bad in this weather?

Hey Tod, does this qualify as nasty?

Must be pretty neat to hunt the tidal water. I've never done that. I've heard that Brant have a strong odor to them. Is this true? table fare? Do you hunt any divers or seaducks?

Thanks for the reply Dave. My first season I bought some decoys off an old man from a nearby town. In those decoys there were some decoys rigged with strap weights in the keels, I figured they were used to self-right themselves and don't remember how well they rode the water compared to the...

Hey Tod, does this qualify as nasty?

Thanks for the reply. I try different things each season myself. Do you ever have Brant or Snows decoy into your Canada spread there?

No doubt diver hunting is addictive, at least to some! Don't get me wrong, I enjoy seeing decoying ducks and geese period. But after seeing numerous puddle ducks and geese decoy throughout the season. It's nice to be able to get into something a little different when the divers make it down. And...

Great photos. Do you do well when placing out your goose decoys in a line like that?

Thanks again Carl, I really appreciate it. I have diver decoys, but like I said. I've always hunted from shore. I have some areas where that may be the ticket to get into some better shooting. I believe I'm going to make a few Y-Boards up, as well as paint some older Mallard decoys up to look...

Carl you hunting saltwater/brackish ? I've always hunted with the boat tucked up to the bank, against a high brushy bank if at all possible. Most of the time I hunt along shore sitting against a tree, blowdown, etc ..... or in some brush, or in a layout blind. Never have hunted like you mention...
