I use mallard and black duck decoys interchangably. I have 80% mallards, 5%blacks, 5% other ducks , (gadwall, woodies, etc. depending on where I'm hunting) I found that they look pretty similar, and the ducks don't really care. You can change hen mallard decoys to "black ducks" by coloring over...

I'm not sure what's wrong, Eric. We've had some wierd weather lately- snow, ice, 16 degrees right now. Most of the small water is frozen up, I did see some Gadwalls and Geese today but a lot of our birds have been pushed out I'm guessing. I've seen a ton of birds on the river, in wildlife...
