    Old Herters

The titebond 3 done with ground corn cob is a tough finish. I ,ve done 2 coats glue, non watered down, with 2 coats ground cob on a few dz. Herters and Fowl Fooler's and they've held up great for many years. Bought the ground cob in a 25 LB. bag from same company Fowl Foolers obtained theirs...

    Cartsen Mallard Sneak Boat

I,ve had a Bobcat in past and currently a Hellbender. While these style hulls can be paddled with a properly sized kayak paddle I feel the easiest propulsion is standing using a push pole. Especially once loaded with dog & decoys. If you,ve got long distances to paddle i,d look into something...

    Turkey Season

Well I got up at 4am with everything laid out to go. Fed & aired the dog and thought you know maybe Monday would be a better day, especially being as i,m going to be hunting on public ground. Less people monday maybe.

I Am Content With My Fleet, But I Wish I Had Bought....

Like yourself I don't need another boat. But also i,ll cruise mkt. place and other sites looking for a deal contemplating the places I could use it. More than likely the one i,m looking at needs work to some extent so that's also rolling around up there. I guess I just can't stop looking for a...

    Setting up a sneakbox

In your rig I would think a seat/board configured to sit across gunnel combing would get you high enough to see over a dodger in up position. Thats assuming that area will hold the weight. I used a plastic milk crate with a fitted Plywood top and a throwable seat cushion on top in my Blackjack...

    Avian Flu?

Not long after the Snow Geese showed up in my area I started seeing dead buzzards around the river park I walk mornings in. Dying snow geese is what they had been feeding on . Parties had started field hunting the Snow Geese and cripples end up along the river park borders. Its pretty normal...

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Fellow I bought my Black jack back from had done something similar with a brown canvas base fabric with grass loops that snapped on to hull on top decks. He hunted it layout style with a grass mat pulled over himself in cockpit, no dodger. If doing it myself I would have used Cordura Nylon...

    Diane’s Custom Bags

She was posting a sale on line just yesterday of some bags, motor covers, layout blankets and other odds & ends. Trying to liquidate remaining inventory I assume. All marked down pricing.

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Don,t know how deep you've inset your mounting hole on rail but can it be pop riveted with long shank aluminum pop rivets. I,d be afraid the thin plastic of those inserts would become brittle in cold temps .

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Another option for holding your grassing is affixing it to plastic bird netting cut to cover areas you wish to cover. I run a stretch of 5/16" nylon bungee cord thru nylon pad eyes spaced about every 2' around perimeter of hull deck and another stretch across bow deck. Stretch a bit and tie a...

Converting existing hulls into sneak boats

Never knew that book existed. Read & reread successful water fowling years ago and still have a printed copy of his little boats similar to pond bxs.

Converting existing hulls into sneak boats

Cut down a 1236 jon that had a crushed transom years ago. Made it 10' and framed in a cockpit and front and rear decks with crown to them. Ribs & cockpit combing made from 3/4" marine plywood sign board that I had access to. Decked with 1/4" Fir Plywood. I did remove seats as they were riveted...

Converting existing hulls into sneak boats

The J16 makes a good stand up & shoot Boat blind rig. Only problem is the hull doesn't like much rough water. Just to low sided & will wet you bad in a light chop. I've done a boat blind on a J14 years ago. Just wide enough when you stand to shoot down center line of boat hull doesn't rock. And...

Advice on sneakbox - AA Broadbill or MLB Wigeon

Good decoy shelf and keeps your brushing grass out of the water to a degree when flipped down.

    Canvas slot bags for decoys

Years ago I switched to all Dianes bags after the Avery Goose bags I was using at the time started coming apart. Maybe the Chinese made decoy brand bags have gotten better over the years but Dianne's have been quality from the start. Still using bags from her that are at least 20 years old .

    Jon boat

Jons aren,t really extreme rough water boats. They sit on top instead of in water and tend to be at the least a rough ride in waves . You,ll be fine up to about a 2 ft. sea than you better start learning how to read waves and approach. Head into and hand on the throttle to adjust speed , surf...
