Dear fellow Waterfowlers, I have some duck mounts that I will give away for free

Dang, 7 hour drive, a little too far for me, but a very generous offer none the less!

So Sick and Tired of Invasive Plants

Fescue- the scourge of grassland birds throughout the eastern us. Easy to kill, but hard to convince people to do it. As for privet, you can use a triclopyr herbicide on it, and it will not kill the cane if there's some remnants.

    East Tennessee: Boom or Bust?

Chicamauga grass has come back with a vengeance and has excellent fishing, plus it's a major flyway for Sandhill Cranes, and we do have a limited season for those now. I think a lot of birds shifted west towards Guntersville when that happened and really haven't shifted back much even though...

    East Tennessee: Boom or Bust?

You're about as far off a major flyway as you can get, but there are pockets of really good habitat in places that will kill ducks.

Anyone want to doublecheck my wiring scheme?

In my experience, yo cannot daisy chain your LEDs. There's not enough coming out the back end to energize the next one.

    Poachers

Not a deer, but there is hope. Some judges take this stuff seriously- http://www.knoxnews.com/story/news/local/tennessee/2017/01/12/deer-costs-man-nearly-10000-under-new-tennessee-law/96480784/ $10k for a poached deer in TN https://www.tn.gov/twra/news/24139 $5k each in fines, lifetime...

Time for change? (Terribly long winded)

Eric, I would book a guided hunt or day lease or 2 in Arkansas to figure out the kind of place you want to hunt, and how good (or rotten) it can be. Most of the hunting in W TN, E ARK, and SEMO is flooded harvested crop fields- this type of hunting doesn't appeal to me personally. Just a...

    Duck box

Has anyone ever roofed them with metal? Seems they'd last forever if you could run the water off. And what self-respecting duck wouldn't appreciate the sound of rain on a tin roof?

    Ducks Unlimited and Habitat

They might, but CRP is all but out of acres right now. It would take an act of Congress to raise the acreage cap. It's been shrinking the last few years down to a target of ~26 mil acres nationwide. The good news- it will squeeze out all the old fescue/orchardgrass/timothy CRPs that do little...

How few ducks are there here???

They aren't here either. Luckily I overslept, but my buddies who went without me saw a handful of buffleheads and 10 mallards seen with no shots fired.

Building an Aluminum BBIII - what modifications would you make circa 2017

Why do you think you need 1/8" or 3/16" plate for your hull? Properly braced, .100" will do all you ask of it, and at a fraction of the price and weight of the other options. We have always run .100 boats in some very shallow rivers where hull strikes with logs, gravel bars, and rocks are...

    Good cheaper over under?

Yildiz if you can find one. They are only distributed through Academy Sports, a big box sporting goods chain in the southeast. I have their 20 ga side by side and have no complaints and often reach past the 12 ga for it when heading out for ducks. Briley provides stateside product support if I'm...

    Damn its cold!!!!

We had a morning low around 10 with wind chill around or just below 0. The morning sun was welcome, but that wind cut like a razor. We were foolish enough to go out in it, but stayed within a reasonably short run of the ramp. We should have killed a few gadwalls, but some of the equipment...
