    Sneakboat Dilemma

I tend to agree with you but it's the supply and demand of it. I have no intentions of selling mine. However, if I did, it would probably fetch close to near $12k the way it sits with the motor. I agree with the DB13. That's a bit high. Great boats but if you read on here, the re-design under...

Hunting in the age of social media

Yes sir. Typically, I've learned if you want a good chance: Pack a sandwich and plan to sit through the low. Gotcha! Took me 9 years to find them and if I hadn't seen the pics I'd have never known they were here either!

They're here. I'll give you one clue: Find the mud. You'll find the pintails.

Hunting in the age of social media

That's the brighter side of things. Which I think is, in fact, is great. I've met a lot of great people on social media that have taught me a lot. Craig F and other local individuals have really helped me not completely fumble around, blind, in trying to figure out the local duck hunting...

    Sneakboat Dilemma

The price on the 13's is actually higher than the Roy high boats in some cases. Do consider that if it includes a motor, that may affect the price. If it has something like a new Yamaha 25 you're probably $3900-$4000 for the motor. I know I paid $4500 for mine last year, band new, which is rock...

    Sneakboat Dilemma

There actually has been a bunch for sale. It's very interesting. For years there was 1 or 2 here and there. Last few months there has been at least 3-4 for sale. I actually know of one person selling one locally in NJ right now. Or at least, it was for sale not too long ago. I could see myself...

    Sneakboat Dilemma

I agree with this. You have to try a lot of boats, and it's fun, to find the right one. I started with a Jon boat and hated it. Granted, it was the lighter weight "topper" style ones. I built a pop-up blind for it. Shooting buffleheads and brant? No problem. I couldn't kill a puddle duck from...

    Sneakboat Dilemma

Noah, As Craig F mentioned, we use turkey chairs. They are perfect. Do note, if you find a used Duck Invader 13, there are two style flaps. High and low. Mine was built when the company was known as Duck Invader and Rich was selling the boats with low and high flaps. The low flaps you will...

    Sneakboat Dilemma

There is, supposedly, a 14' South Bay variant. You are correct in that the smaller SB's will hunt 2 hunters but I have heard it's tight. They are great boats, just pushing it in terms room. Start adding decoys into the mix and it will get low on room really quick. Your answer: Duck Invader...

    Very lucky day for me

I feel incredibly fortunate with this bird. The biologist who actually banded the bird replied to my post on a FB group I'm a member of. He remembered the very specific group of birds he banded this one in.

    Very lucky day for me

This bird actually decoyed very well. I'm used to their normal antics: getting up over top and flaring, coming in hot and then putting the brakes on, and of course their signature landing just out of range outside the decoys. The ones I have had the most luck with are those that come in hot...

    Last day. NJ

Very nice Jode. You've always given great respect to those green wings. I am jealous of you guys picking away at them right till the last day. They usually leave us in numbers sometimes as early as November in the northern part of the state. One day I'll make it down that way.

    Cold Snap

Spoke to a client in San Antonio TX on Monday and it was 19F there. That is absurd. We have a couple more days of cold left in the season it seems. Then it's all she wrote. I am giving it a go tomorrow. 30 degrees and 3-4" of snow on the coast.

No argument from me! Seems like a very logical explanation. Also seems to be consistent with what I've seen as well.

    Very lucky day for me

I'd for sure like to know what possibly causes it but I think the geographical debate could be put to rest. My theory? Water temperature. As the season gets colder, the ducks need more blood flow to their legs while roosting in the water. Seems like all the red/bright leg specimens I shot were...

    Very lucky day for me

Yes, I have heard "Nova Scotia Red Leggers" but have heard Maine as well. I thought for sure the band report would be from Nova Scotia. Was very surprised and actually pretty happy it ended up being a local bird.

    Very lucky day for me

It has been a pretty challenging season here in NJ for myself and a lot of folks. Lack of weather up north has lead to basically stale birds, the ones here seem to be pretty fat and happy, very content with their safe food sources. The running theme of the season seems to be "just 2 black...
