    August Workbench

August is a super busy time in my shop. Getting ready for the hunting season, multiple boat projects, railbird stuff! So I didn't have time to start a thread. I'm glad you did. Here's a couple blue wings out of the shop last week. And a Pintail early this week.

    Scull boat

Here's the same boat and maker, one that I restored two years ago. It's a historic boat but it will need a total rebuild.

TDB 14 Classic - "Easy" Fix

Since you already have the area close to fair. Once you're finished your repair I would just re-glass the entire bottom of the boat to tie everything together. And peace of mind

Jeff, your so right. 5 good tides a year is high cotton! I think last year in Jersey we had maybe 3! You gotta go when you can. Work be damned.

    Rail Skiff Build

One sweet looking boat. If you ever need to put a small outboard on to cover distance before you start pushing it seems like that would be easily accomplished

Let me know how that stuff works out. I've considered trying something like that myself. For now I just give it a fresh coat of wax every few trips.

It's walkable. There's a ton of them out there. I just prefer the Soras . Clappers kind of become like family pets lol. But every couple years I'll go out and shoot a few. The spartina is almost impossible to push. For some reason it is like Velcro to the bottom of a skiff. Even on a very high...

Steve, the clappers are thick on our Delaware bay marshes. They flock to the cabins and often entire families live among the framework and decking. It's a real good way to keep the dog occupied! It's pretty interesting they like to call all night long which makes sleeping in the meadow...

I saw boss is selling a two and three-quarter number eight steel shot shell. In 20 gauge and I believe you can order them in 28. They might be able to make you some 410s

Sora taste like a tiny wood duck. My friend says they're like peanuts. Takes a bunch to fill you up!

The big thing about Minnesota is of course they do not have tidal flow. Sora do not like the flush unless conditions are very disadvantageous for them. Big flood tides. I would imagine in Minnesota you need a pretty big rain storm to get them feeling Squirrley.
