I just want to see tractor pics. Especially if it’s towing your duck boat or something cool.

    Fuel bags and jack plates

My understanding is that the original purpose of adding ethanol to gasoline was to help reduce foreign oil dependence. Now it’s a subsidy that no politician is willing to go against Agro-business to eliminate. Sad. Flat the worst thing that ever happened to small engines.

What is your wind tolerance for boat based hunts???

Most of the time, if I am in the boat, my lifejacket, either an inflatable or mesh top shooting PFD, is on. If am in a blind in shallow water (less than 2'), I will take it off. Unless I have to run the motor, then its going back on. This is especially true when I am fishing. There are times I...

    Drones

We use them at work, we have a good number of certified pilots on staff, including my supervisor. He's been flying them a long time, has his own RC high performance helicopter too. The technology is amazing, we use them to gather LIDAR data and true-color & multi-spectral imagery. Geo-rectified...

    Aging Ducks; Anyone Try This?

I've never aged whole birds but I have dry aged breast fillets in a covered container in the fridge for up to 5 days. This, along with brining, definately improves tenderness and flavor.

What is your wind tolerance for boat based hunts???

I’ve hunted a few days in those kinds of winds but always tried to be tucked up against the lee shore. I’ve also gotten up, heard the wind roaring and went back to bed. Or got to the ramp and said heck no and went home. If you have a spot you can safely get to on the lee side go for it...

    FWC Mottled Duck vs. Mallard

New WFF Director? Nope, sure don't. I don't know that we ever crossed paths and I really dont have much contact with my former colleagues in that division like I do with SLD and MRD. The new MRD Director is a great biologist and a great guy. I know him very well.

Wow. By time I left ADCNR, they had fully embraced technology and had all sorts of interactive maps & apps.

TEN inches of wet white stuff

Posts like this make me miss real winters we had growing up in the Poconos. Or at least I miss the memories of winter. ❄️

I use FB to keep up with friends and family, and to browse MP. And to see some cool fishing posts from all over the world. But I no longer get involved with political “dialogue”. Nor is it a source of “news”.

    2025 deer

Beer hunting there is easy: they have it vending machines, convenience stores, grocery stores, etc. it’s really just beer shooting not really hunting at all. :D

    2025 deer

Yep, in order to hunt in Japan you have to be a citizen or resident, and go through the gun ownership process. A gun owner cant loan a gun to anyone, i believe not even another approved gun owner. Which is why there are no guided hunts for non-residents. They still have a hunting culture but...

    2025 deer

Very nice Sika! I hope to hunt them in Japan after retirement, just gotta navigate their gun laws which is not easy. I shot a 6.5x55 Swedish Mauser for years, similar to the 257 R., gotta love the flat trajectory of long thin bullets. If I ever get back in to deer hunting here again, I'd invest...
