    Who's out this morning?

A first time for me: did the turkey on the gas grill (not enough oven space inside with all the pies and casseroles to cook). Came out great, did a 8.5# bird, brined overnight.

    FWC Mottled Duck vs. Mallard

In coastal Alabama, mottled ducks were very wary and would not show up in parks and urban storm water ponds. After the first two weeks of the season we rarely saw them Here in Tampa, they are all over urban areas. I’ve seen them walking across McDonalds parking lots going from one storm water...

    Tampa Bay Area Duck Hunters

There was a pile of scaup just north of the Gandy on the Pinellas side this weekend. Each year I am tempted to get a licence and stamp and hunt the last half, just havent gotten fully motivated! The fishing is so good year around, its a tough choice.

    FWC Mottled Duck vs. Mallard

Mottled duck hybrids can be very common in parts of Florida. Which is why they finally had to issue guidance. All the mottled ducks I killed in Alabama looked like pure mottled ducks.

    Tampa Bay Area Duck Hunters

Ed, I believe that FWC and the legislature passed a law/rules that prohibited local governments from restricting hunting on tidal/public waters without going through an FWC rule making process. My understanding is that it was a response to Pinellas & other counties and cities restricting...

    FWC Mottled Duck vs. Mallard

This is some of the best clearest guidance I have seen out of any DNR on hybrids & bag limits, which I know from conversations on this site is a problem with black & mallard hybrids in the northeast. Do other states have similar guidance on black ducks vs mallards? Is it this clear...

    November workbench

Feeder Butts: If you ever watch a flock of ducks tipping to feed from a distance with the sun at your back, the flashes of white as they tip stands out like a flashbulb going off! When we had lots of gadwalls on Mobile Bay and I was hunting 25-30 days out of the season, I used 3 dzn gadwalls...

    Tampa Bay Area Duck Hunters

To be clear, its one scaup for most of the season, then 2 for the last part of the season. Last Friday on the way home there were no scaup to be seen on Hillsborough Bay. Yesterday on the way home, there were literally thousands of them rafted up off of Bayshore Drive. What a difference a few...
