thanks Carl. Those are the plan I used. I just missed that detail. I made 10 sets of geese. I will post pics when I have time. I am busily getting ready for the opener tomorrow.
Where do you atach the anchor line on v-boards? I can put the line anywhere, but want to get it in the right spot. I am thinking either at the center or somewhere on the leading arm.
I had a Dry-plus rain coat that lost water-proofness after a couple years. It was not abused, but simple used and it doesn't rain that much here in Idaho. That gives me serious doubts that dry-plus wader will keep you dry.
My personal recommendation of breathable waders is: No.
I didn't bring fram #1 down far enough. It was a pain to get those pieces of decking on. I did it but there is a noticable bend over the frame. For the angled frames on the foot end, I brought them down quite a bit to make it easier. Sure I lost a bit of corve the boat, but not much. The...
They may warp as they dry. It depends on the grain, etc. You might be ahead to screw them, at least temporarily, in place.
I wouldn't use the epoxy, just lineseed oil or varnish, then paint. But that is just me.
I use the best quality from Micheal's craft store. The 'Artist' grade. they work well enough, don't break the bank and I don't have to worry about ruining a $20 brush.
Taller saw horses are easier on the back. I found out the painful way.
I painted all the frames, box and apron before beveling the frames. I used roll-on bed liner for the box. Don't worry about getting paint on the frame edges. It comes off easy later. The apint also makes it easy to...
I found something surprising in my duck boat today. Six kittens! I don't even have a cat! There has been a cat hanging around lately. Now I know why.
My son figured it out. Earlier today he said he hear a kitten. I didn't believe him. Then he saw the momma cat come out of the boat...
Not possible to build something on your current lot? Being steps away would be my choice, instead of a mile away even if it was smaller. A whole lot easier to work for 5 minutes if you have time before supper.
The plans call for making fillets out of Bondo in all the corners before glassing the box. I found that a plastic spoon works really good to make them. Drag the spoon backwards. Then before it hardens, but after it kicks, gently smooth it down with a rag soaked in acetone.
The spoon and...
I have got to say the the real name rule in this forum is absolutely the only way to go. All forums and internet sites should have that requirement.
How easy is it to snipe and attack at someone using a fake screen name? It happens every where, but not here. I went into the local newspaper...
