What if my deco(r or y)s are so bad that the wife won?t let me set the on a shelf and the ducks laugh as they turn tail? [crazy]

    Reelfoot Lake (Updated with Pics)

The boat ride to the blind y?all hunted opening day is something else, isn?t? And it feels weird blowing wide open through a decoy spread but that?s where some of the boat ditches run.

Any tips for repairing leaking decoys?

I?ve never had much luck filling cracks. They just seem to keep running. Hot glue or shoe goo are good for shot holes though.

    Reelfoot Lake (Updated with Pics)

I haven?t witnessed anyone trying 100 yard shots, but the locals can be a little different. The lake has a very contentious history. 40-50 yard shots are pretty normal though. Just the nature of hunting big spreads out of open water blinds and working big flocks of ducks. The calling is...

    Reelfoot Lake (Updated with Pics)

While I generally prefer freelance over guided hunts, reelfoot probably isn?t the best place for it. The lake is full of cypress that sunk with the bottom of the lake so navigation is very dicey if you get out of the boat lanes. The boat lanes are marked with cane, tomato stakes, and driveway...

I?m heading to the great quake lake the last of January and we may well be hunting with the same guy. If so, you?re in good hands.

Anyone using a 28 gauge shotgun for Waterfowl.

For anyone looking at bismuth, I?d pick up Kent?s offerings over the Hevi stuff. Hevi stuffs a lot of steel and little bismuth vs all bismuth in the Kent offerings. The Kent performed very well out of my 20 with #5s on wood ducks a few weeks ago.

    Wood Duck Paint Colors

I really enjoy painting drakes but the hens are absolutely intimidating. And every time I think I have a paint job I like, I pull out the real thing and see how far I missed the mark.

    A Step Back in Time

Larry, There?s an ecological concept in mammals called Bergmann?s Rule. Basically says that as you go away from the equator the volume relative to surface area of a species increases. Volume conserves body heat and surface area dispersed it. It?s especially obvious when looking at white tailed...

    Towing a Skiff

I?d tie it tight alongside. You ought to be in a better position to keep an eye on it and if you stop or slow, you won?t have to worry about it drifting into the houseboat or throwing slack and fouling the prop.

What was your first set of hunting decoys

Mine were a cheap 12 pack of mallards from bass pro. They were assimilated into someone else?s spread once I started carving.
