    No Ducks---Literally!

Don't feel bad Al...we're two weeks into our season and I have to fire a shot myself. Of course I've only been able to venture out once on opening day to hoards and hoards of hunters everywhere. I hope the ducks start appearing when the river starts flowing again. I'm sure Habi and Sonora had...

Drake is a good looking hunting partner there Paul! my wife keeps pestering me for another pup, we just aren't ready for one yet though. Maxx is a handful as it is...I think she's pushing for a lap dog though. Have a great season! Steve

Nice blocks john...I need to find some birds this weekend for Maxx. Do you have those coyote traps ready for some fur again this season? Steve

Way off topic and NDR...It's just where I've been all summer.

Thank you Paul Ken...yes and no. Yes it is man made. No it's not the remnants of an old structure. It's the culmination of hikers/climbers building a sort of circular wall for protection from the elements...namely the wind. It gets pretty windy and cold up there even when I was there. I...

Rick...Thanks again for the pointers. I've heard of spinning, I'm going to have to look into practicing that some more and along with the inhale exhale and relaxing. I'm sure there's a pile of other rookie mistakes I'm making, but I'll get those figured out too. Brad...Wow! That's insane, but...

SwampThing to the DU banquet tonight...

You got that right Vince. I always tell myself I can make another. But when I do I end up selling that one to someone too. One of these days I really will keep one for myself.

It is now less than one week until our opener

Great backdrop for a waterfowling adventure Al. I hope your season opener goes better than it did here in PA. The crowds are absolutely horrible anymore. There were guys sleeping in their canoe and others camped out along the road in one of the areas I hunt. Needless to say, it was way...

SwampThing to the DU banquet tonight...

Thanks fellas, I appreciate the kind words. I hated to part with this turkey call, it sounded so good. They both went to happy new homes, I know the new owner of the turkey call though, so that's good news. I may have to visit him in the future. Al...I hope you don't mind but I gave you a bit...

    Disappointing

Wow, that's just as bad as a subdivision moving into your favorite section of trapline. Sorry to hear about the stream. I hope it's able to be changed back to what it once was someday.

    New toy MLB Chuck Huff

I've always done the same as Ron at Highway speeds. Just lay the dodger flat and bungee it down. Short trips it stays up.

It's hard to beat your immediate competition in some of these races since there are lot of sponsored professionals racers in the mix. That's why I think a lot of the racers just try to beat their personal best or there buddies. You are right though, lots of good camaraderie among the ranks...

Weather forecast for the western Washington and Oregon Duck Opener

Who know what kind of exotic birds that might blow in. There were some brant and eider taken on Lake Erie a few years ago when Hurricane Sandy blew through.

Nah, the Black Fly Challenge is as, gravel grinder race. The only obstacles are the mountains and boulders protruding from the road. Oh and the black flies...don't stop riding or they'll carry you off and dine voraciously on you. Anyway, my first time in the race I saddled up to my Gary...

my new bike has mostly stock components on it still. I don't doubt the climbing helped improve my time. But it was mostly due to the bike itself. I transitioned from a mountain bike to a cyclocross bike just before the race. I can't imagine ever going back to the mountain bike now. I had it out...

Nice sheep there Al...Full curl and then some. Now that is a trophy. Here's the trophy I have in mind for a visit up north. Denali... I'm shooting for Denali 2019 after Rainier in 2017 and again in 2018, along with all of the ADK 46 in winter again, the NH 48 and Maine's 14. No...

Sheep hunting was something I always wanted to do Vince. I guess I look at the summit of each peak as my trophy now though. I'd still love to go northwest and spend a month in wilds of Alaska...that day will be coming, it won't likely include a firearm or hunt though.

Hey Jon...Old Rag sounds like it could be some fun for sure. If you ever want a partner to go there let me know. Or if you ever want to go check out the Adirondacks let me know. Just before your knees give out please, though I have encountered some very old people climbing in the...
