    Older Shotgun Question

Actually both, but it depends on the gun and shells. My brother shoots his model 12 heavy duck full choke with steel all the time, generally not larger than 2's and has had no problems. In the larger pellet size there is less compacting of the shot possible which could ring buldge a barrell...

    OSP Stalker

Is this the boat? Its on the duck boat specs page http://duckboats.net.nmsrv.com/specs/images/stalker.jpg This boat was made by a few different companies over the years, and believe its still being made in WI somewhere. I have owned one and my brother breifly owned one. He only sold his...

    Diver long line storage

Those were the days when I needed more decoys than a couple dozen, i miss that. I have tried just about everything, electrical cord wrap, electrical cord spool with crank, bucket(that worked ok) But hands down when I ran long lines was the slotted decoy bags and leaving the lines attached...

    lake superior market hunting

Market hunting happened everywhere, but I would imagine that Lake Superior wasn't a big business hub. There probably wasn't train loads of ducks shipped to chicago or Minneapolis, but they were sold to local markets. Redheads and Canvasbacks sold for 2-7 dollars a pair, where most other ducks...

    flattie decoys

Over the years I have made my active(swmming/high heads) lower profile and my resters and loafers ride higher on the water. Now I have scientific evidence for it. OP reminds me of my oldest niece, I carved her a redhead decoy and she painted it.That next year in ND she was on a hunt with...

    any shorebird decoy experts?

When I got it home, we noticed the purple along the neck and a bit on the back and we then thought passenger pigeon. A hen does look close color wise, but would seem on the small side.

    any shorebird decoy experts?

My bad, the story was in reference to the heron decoys in the "art of the Decoy" book. The only thing I know about this decoy was his dad was the owner of Carry- lite decoys, least so he said. The guy had 5 decoys, this shorebird, a daddy holly body with a cast aluminum seneca lake head...

    any shorebird decoy experts?

I picked this shorebird up this last weekend as we were packing up my brothers booth Saturday. A guy was walking around with a few unkown to him decoys, this one was unkown to me as well, but I bought it anyway along with an early daddy holly decoy body. I know very little about shorebirds and...

Dog refusing to retrieve with e collar on??

Excellent Nate, this is one thing that is so important, when you get to a wall, take a few steps back. I do this all the time, even with older more advanced training like blood tracks this last summer. When she had a bad track, where the focus wasnt there or was difficult. the next week I...

Dog refusing to retrieve with e collar on??

She sounds like softer dog, and she was not coming back to you from the orginal nick because of the command/nick, but because of unkown nick, she was looking for a safe place. Your dog came back to you on the fetch because she was unsure from a few moments before why she got nicked when she was...

Duck hunt in Devil's Lake ND...

Devils lake area would not be my first choice for freelancing a hunt. I havent hunted the area in years primaily because of how much land is locked up with guides and leases. But the state as a whole is seeing in increase in posted land, farmers just getting sick and tired of all the hunters...

Duck hunt in Devil's Lake ND...

Hunting the main lake? man I would pick my days and pick my spots carefully whether a jon boat or sneak box. I havent hunted the big lake, but it can get windy here in ND and that lake can get nasty. Seems like people die every year around the state because people try to use small boats on...

All this talk about doubles...Zabala Hermanos

There a decent spainish gun, not as refined as a ugartechea but at that price it would be a good shooter. I shoot steel in some of my old guns when chokes have been opened up, but I am leary in my uggie. Mike trudel may have more expereince with their guns, think he shoots a Zabala 10ga.
