Looking for 40+ mpg , Jetta? Cruz? ??

my wife has a 03 TDI 4 door, she work close to home and fills it up every two months.(10-12 gallons) 42+- around town and over 50 on the highway. it is a manual trans and it really is a neat car. one point is that repairs are expensive and it does require repairs every so often.

Another technique for fiberglassing....one you may have never heard of..

when you use this technique does the film come off the epoxy clean, or do you have a problem with it sticking to the hull? and with packing tape, does the tape's glue stick to the finished coat below? looks like a very cool idea

I do mine a little different, I buy long hot peppers. calobella? at the supermarket. split them length wise one side only and gently open the pepper up, remove the seeds. then put a slice of duck inside and cheddar cheese, cream cheese. close the pepper and then wrap the pepper with a slice...

    Sharpening a drawknife

I have a small carvers drawknife, it is only 9" wide, I have had good luck sharpening that with my lansky. clamp it on the back of the blade in the center and it reaches both ends. then hone the backside with some krokus (sp) cloth with soapy water.

    Double Barrel Double Discharge

I had a 10 ga O/U that would double fire every once and a while. after taking the trigger out. there was a flat piece of metal with a small groove cut in it that would hold the two hammers back. it was only a matter of making the groove a bit deeper to hold the second trigger steadier. seemed to...

    Rutgers: Rasps 49 and 50?

Geoff I have three of these, they are a nice rasp. 6 yrs old and still going strong. one large and one smaller fine cut. the one I don't use too much is the round rasp. makes too deep of cuts and too hard to sand after use. the others I would highly recommend. use them all the time...

thought on a small gear hauler/boat

had a friend used to keep a float tube in the brush near his spot. he would put it on and paddle out to the birds. a cheap one people use for fishing. he looked pretty funny getting out of the water but it worked nicely.

    Bankes layout boat question

I always set the anchor and layout first. then use the lay of the anchor to set longlines of decoys downwind and off to the left hand side of the shooter. swinging will happen when the tide changes or other conditions prevail, at that point you just have to reset the anchor.

    Bankes layout boat question

I would be hesitant to run double anchors on a layout. they are meant to run into a sea and not side too. I know of one layout that swamped and rolled with a guy inside when anchored bow and stern. this is how I anchor my layout, it makes changing people out safe and stops all the jockying...
