    20 gauge duck loads

I'm using a kicks high flyer IC, I also tried the factory MOD, going to try the kicks IC to start. I shoot a high flyer IC out of my 12 gauge.

    20 gauge duck loads

I did some patterning this weekend since I was able to pick the 20 up after five days of waiting for the 'instant' background check to clear... I only patterned what I had on hand which was, Hevi Metal #3, Hevi Bismuth #4 and Hevi-X #4. The bismuth outperformed and patterned better by far than...

    20 gauge duck loads

Really good input everyone and pretty much what I figured. I am intrigued at shooting the smaller shot sizes for pattern density... certainly can't hurt to get a box or two to try out. Will have you shot the 3/5 stack boss at all or just the 5s? Between tolls and fuel what's a few more bucks...

    20 gauge duck loads

I'm sure this has been discussed in the past but wanted to see if anyone had any current opinions with the changes in ammo... I primarily hunt with a SBEII 12 gauge, shooting steel and hevi-metal #3s and #4s depending on my mood. I only shoot decoying birds, 99% puddle ducks. I average...

Duck Invader 13 Owners - Pics

It should hold up fine for the first split, of course the teal numbers will decide how well that grass gets beat up on your flappers [;)]

Duck Invader 13 Owners - Pics

Spartina is going to look good, as your pictures show, but it will break down relatively fast. I use it mixed in with salt hay and a raffia base and attach the spartina with bungees. Every few hunts I just cut more and replace where needed. Salt hay will hold up to more abuse and I'll use it...

We've lost another of the good ones.

Paul was a true waterfowler. It was always a pleasure to speak to him at the ramp or at his house or on the phone, even as he got more advanced in his age the passion was always there.

    Any displacment hull sneakbox

The Fricke is a semi-displacement hull. Will run about 22 mph with a 15 but can slow down when it's sloppy. Estuaries are slow but tanks.

    Shotgun of Choice?

I shot a double gun for a long time, a dehaan O/U, but I often found myself missing that third shot. Switched to a Benelli M2 and loved it. A few years back I won a SBEII 25th Anniversary edition in one of Benelli's contests and have been using that as my primary waterfowl gun. Super reliable...

DUCKBOAT SEATS - How low can we go?

I use a momarsh invisilounge on top of a cut down milk crate. In my boat 7" seems to do the trick in the stern and 4.5" seems to work best in the bow. For my height it keeps my flapper boards at eye level.

Your opinion on motors without power trim/tilt...

In a similar sentiment to power/trim tilt I used to scoff at those who had electric start motors on their duck boats. More weight with a battery? Not for me... Of course now that I have one I should have done it years ago!

How was everyone dealing with this virus scare?

NJ over here, I work in emergency power so we're still humming along until someone tells us otherwise. I am fortunate to work in our office, not in field work so I am able to socially distance myself decently well. Still a bit unnerving with things changing by the day. My girlfriend is a...

Thinking about building a 12ft cackler

No good shots grassed up, but my 14 with and without canvas. This design was modified when built to eliminate the motor well.

Thinking about building a 12ft cackler

I have owned a 14ft cackler and I run a 12ft roy boat now. There's a CONSIDERABLE weight difference between the two. The cackler is a better choice if you're going to run big water, but if you are going to be dealing with the mud and pushing the boat around at all then I could see why you...

I also shoot a SBEII 25th Anniversary edition and have put about four cases of hevi metal 3" through it, no issues, but I don't shoot 3.5"

    Poor Judgement/Essential Items

These kinds of things are great learning opportunities for sure, especially for you learning a new area and how it may be effected by the wind, tide, etc. I had a slightly less harrowing situation earlier this season where my shift linkage to my lower unit came undone while setting decoys and I...
