I'm not bashing the boats at all. I ran one for a few years and LOVED it. Still my favorite boat I ever owned and kick myself for getting rid of it. That being said a 40 on the back of one is a terrible idea. A 25 screams on that boat, why make it heavier and sit lower in the rear?

Way too much motor those boats fly with a 25 loaded a 40 is to heavy and will cause the transom to sit way to low in the water

The Mako is the way to go. I had a 22 as well and it really is a great boat. Things to look for 1) soft spots in the deck 2) soft transom. If those are good or were replaced well you should be fine

You can find them online in heavier weights. I have used them for a few seasons, they work well but after3-4 seasons the bungees need to be replaced and if you have very strong current I'd opt for a little bit heavier than 7.5oz

Do not put a mud motor on a south bay duck boat. That hull is not made to work with a MM. You think that boat is slow with a 15hp outboard, try stickinging a long tail on there. If you want a mud boat, sell the south bay and buy a mud rig. Or keep it and buy a mud rig if funds permit, but you...
