I have a couple of heads sitting in my workshop that didn’t say Can to me. And I’m using a pattern.

I’ve been on a quest to make a good Can decoy. I cave made several that were darn decent but I will say this is the first one that I am proud of. I’m generally very modest but this one is tickling my fancy. It’s not completely done but I had to pause and pour a drink.

Sadly my old girl is over 12 and spends her days laying on the ac duct in the kitchen. Her heart and lungs are good and she still greets me at the door with a toy in her mouth and a wagging tail but she has lots of arthritis and struggles on the stairs. It is really getting to be time to let go.

What are good options for a currently commercially available draw knife and spoke shave? Mid range price and quality. Bonus if they work on HD cork.

I treated myself to a window AC unit in my workshop last weekend. I like where your head is at.

Well I got canvas for my blind build and cork/basswood for decoys. What do I do first? Decisions decisions.

Thanks, I’ll keep an eye out for some. That’s been my plan (white pine) to start since white cedar is not readily available right around me. The sawmill I visited had a lot of Spruce so I thought I would check on that option. I’ll keep searching.

How do those heads hold up with the grain direction you have to use to make them?
