    Shaving Horse Plans..

I did some internet searches on shaving horses and found a set of plans for a "bowl horse" which looked perfect. $30 at Lowes for wood and hardware and this is the result. I like this setup because there is nothing to get in the way of the knife. I have added a couple blocks to raise and...

    The birth of a plan

I have Zack Taylor book and look at those plans often. that looks like a good way to go. Steve, thanks for the links to your builds. It looks like a lot of fun. There is a boat junkyard near here that I may need to take a look at. Will let yall know if the plan survives (ie if I can...

    The birth of a plan

I hunt most of the time with my son and the boat I have is really too much boat for the areas I hunt (if too safe is possible). However, after lurking around here for years I think it is time to look into a father/son project. I would like to know if yall have any ideas on a boat design that...

    GPS/Plotter recommendations

Joe there is always the option of a thru the hull transducer or a mounting plate that glues to the outside of the hull. I used a mounting plate because my boat is aluminum and the thru the hull would not work but I would have rather used thru the hull setup so it didn't catch on milfoil and...

that sounds like the best option. I can drain it into my 1960 CJ5, it will run on ANYTHING and it only gets used in the summer.

    Ethanol gas!! Off season storage?

Roy, I use the blue Marine version. Kyle, I am in that area somewhat often so I will have to find one up there. the nice thing about the big tank and the etec is I normally only have to fill it up at the start of the season (guess that is a down side also)

    Ethanol gas!! Off season storage?

I had a station near me that had non- ethanol gas but they quit selling it. I'm going to have to find a different place.

    Ethanol gas!! Off season storage?

Headed out for opening day and made it about 1/4 mile before the outboard quit and would not restart. (no hunting) Took it in for service this week and the fuel lines were the problem. Ethanol had destroyed them. I was lucky that the eTec engine has a water separator filter and a fuel filter...

Stupid things you did growing up. (NDR maybe, maybe not)

We found a cave in the woods behind my parents house that we would explore. One day we found a large "room" (maybe 10x10) that we thought would be a great place to have a clubhouse. Came back the next weekend to set up the clubhouse only to find that the cave had shifted and the room was no...

    Decoy Carving

When it comes to using a draw knife the best tool I have is the carving bench I made last fall. I can adjust it to hold heads and bodies and it allows me to really work with the draw knife. I never had a work table that was sturdy enough for my carving vice and I always felt like I just...

    Workshop Construction

Eric, I have been a little busy and not been around here much so I missed this. That is an awesome looking shop. Really beats the 5x10 area I have in my garage. With that much space (and equipment) you are going to have to build something. See you out on the lake.

I hear ya! I will not be out there on the opener but on the plus side most of the "bone-heads" who campout for two days prior will either be gone by day two or at least be sober.
