Duck Hunters to the Rescue in Houston!

Just shows where the good hearts are. We were just saying if I felt better it would be an adventure for some old retired guy. I have wanted to see Texas just wish this mess hadn't happened.

    Medical update- NDR

Todd, Thanks for thinking of the need for a donor. What they have in store for me is 100% match, my own stem cells. When I get the call I will go to Mayo in Rochester for 5 or 6 weeks. First step will be harvesting 6,000,000 stem cells from my bone marrow and storing them in a freezer until...

    Medical update- NDR

I feel like I'm back in school and just aced all my final exams. Spent 3 days at Mayo clinic being tested head to toe for the stem cell transplant. All tests came back good to go. Now we wait for insurance to OK the procedure and an opening at Mayo, No later than Sept 21 but possibly sooner. I...

    Gordon MacQuarrie exhibit

Rob, Thanks for posting pics. I sure wish I had been feeling good enough to make the trip. I appreciate the offer of a ride but probably wouldn't have been much fun. Next time I get in that part of the world I will have to stop in Barnes.

    Outboard Shaft Length Question

Rule of thumb is the cavitation plate on the motor should be flush with the bottom of the boat. Don't know about the hull you have so there may be an exception, I will be watching. Good luck.

Another unclear regulation - sort of Duck related

I think Pete's advice is good, find the CO and have him clear up the confusion. Just don't drop my name heeehee. The border law with Wisc has always been murky, trailers and boat regs. have been especially so.

    Annual Upper Midwest Shindig

Well guys, my dance card has filled up and as sad as it makes me, starting Sept 21 I will be under confinement for 6 weeks at Mayo for my stem cell transplant. There goes my 2017 waterfowl season same place the 2016 one went. Maybe a whitetail will make a mistake in November. I don't think I...

    Duck Nest Box Questions

For a cheep solution check out Oregons DNR site for nest box plans from a single sheet of exterior plywood. I made several a few years back when the price of cedar took off. So far they are still hanging in there. "A good plan today beats a perfect plan...

    Outboard thoughts?

Another vote for electric start, I added it to my 25 and ignored the smart a---ed remarks about getting too old to pull start a motor. Now at o dark thirty I just push the button and motor off without sweating up.

Anyone else tired of shooting 12ga?

Most of my life I have been a 20 ga. fan. When needed I will shoot a 12 but a 20 ga. load of Hevi will make a duck dead in the air. Setting limits on shots over the decoys is a great way to add to the experience and reduce cripples. Maybe less dog work but more recovered ducks. I do shoot a 28...

    Duck Nest Box Questions

Carl, For the poles I went to the sign shop at public works and told them what I was doing. They pulled out a truckload of slightly bent or rusted sign posts that were headed for recycling. Free and tough. I did put some wood duck houses in trees and will never waste my time and materials doing...

    Outboard thoughts?

I would go for an older OMC 15. Bulletproof and easy to repair when they do have trouble. I know they don't have all the whistles and bells of the new ones BUT SO What? Fuel economy, noise and pollution. I would rather set points than have to order a CDI box. In my boat box I have a flywheel...
