    NDR - Outdoor TV

Not on Outdoor TV but rather The Sportsman Channel, I enjoy the show "MeatEater" with Steven Rinella.. He seems to be a down to earth guy, atleast when the show first came on. He always talks about a respect for the animal and enjoying the time with good company rather than bragging about the...

    Advice on seat covers

Best neoprene seat covers on the market, in my opinion would be Wet Okole. Best fit and quality although you might have to take out a second mortgage to pay for them and wait a few weeks for delivery. As mentioned above, universal cordura covers seem to do the trick for a lot of people as well.

When is cold weather a factor?

It's great to hear other hunters of all experience levels opinions on this topic. And I think a main part of my question was referring to cold weather and including all of the so called "side effects" that go along with it (Ice, wind etc etc..), so thanks for including that in most of the posts...

When is cold weather a factor?

Chris, I always think of hunting in that same way! Even if the birds are out of reach its always a better day than at work!

When is cold weather a factor?

Jon, I appreciate the comment. I have often thought of some of my hunts in the same way. Thinking about it that way, that need of extra work could in fact lead to a compromise in safety. Wether it be in gear malfunction and lead to over exertion etc etc.. There are so many variables...

When is cold weather a factor?

I thought this might be a good topic to talk about with the recent cold snap on the east coast. With temperatures dropping below the double digits during the day and wind chills dipping under the subzero mark, how many guys are still heading for the bigger water coastal zones in the late season...

Sneakbox Grass Rails Help Central Jersey

Steve, Thats a great idea to just tie it to the cord with some sisal. I was thinking about that, or adding an eye strap every 6-8 inches or so to give the cord some tension throughout much like a grass rail. I think I am going to get a roll of the 1/4 inch cord off of ebay.. Its pretty...

Sneakbox Grass Rails Help Central Jersey

Yeah, I think i'm going to end up using the eye straps and bungee cords rather than wood grass rails. It seems so simplistic and effective. It will never rot and won't ever have maintenance issues. Now I just have to figure out what size bungee to use. I'm thinking between 1/4 in. or 5/16 bungee...

Sneakbox Grass Rails Help Central Jersey

Thanks to those of you who have posted so far.. After doing a bit of research I have found one other option that I'd like to get an opinion on--- Eye straps and "bungee cords" Seems pretty simplistic, and cheap. Many people are using this method to attach grass as well as using "thatch...

Sneakbox Grass Rails Help Central Jersey

Thanks for the info guys! Steve, I was going to try to just get a board and cut the sections out with a jig saw/band saw but I kind of like the spacer idea also! Never really thought of that.. Has anyone ever used a pvc "decking" style material similar to what home depot sells named azek? That's...

Sneakbox Grass Rails Help Central Jersey

To give a quick intro my name is Kevin, Im 22 years old and have been converted to a duck hunter from a deer hunter about 5 years ago. I am relatively new to this website and have just recently picked up my first sneak box (All Glass Higbee Unknown MFD) earlier this year. With help from the...

    Higbee Restoration and Repair Questions.

Mike, Thanks for the reply, but by the looks of it these holes have been in the boat for a little while. They are right above where the current grass rails are which leads me to believe they are where the previous owner first had them mounted. It then looks like they rotted and no longer can...

    Higbee Restoration and Repair Questions.

Steve, First off, thank you for the reply! These holes are no bigger in diameter than the size of a pencil eraser. They are on the decoy racks on either sides from were grass rails are so I don't think they could be considered structural. I'm leaning towards just filling them with a 3m product...

    Higbee Restoration and Repair Questions.

Just bought a Higbee sneakbox that is going to need some work before the start of next season. I just had some questions that I know some of the more experienced duck boaters can answer, so here goes: The boat has a couple holes in the decoy racks from what looks to be from grass rails. I would...
