Four Stroke vs Two Stroke power and Black Brant III

I built a BBIII last summer/fall, when it came time to buy the motor I asked about the same question here and based on the advice given I bought a Yahama 4 stroke 40 hp. I hunted the ocean and bays on both sides of Cape Cod all winter and it is a great fit. Pull start, 1st pull every time any...

Scaup, Last Question before sea trials

Wow, a lot to think about, Did not realize the difference in two and four stroke were so huge, the weight may be an issue to consider. Beginning to think maybe I do need to look at a little bigger motor, gonna take a look at that. I have tried to be open minded and listen to the advice I am...

Scaup, Last Question before sea trials

Hunting from this boat will almost exclusively be inside of the many south side bays on Cape Cod East of Falmouth or around and outside of the Hyannis Breakwater. Speed is not an issue, can't be late for something you do want to do any more, hahahaha. I may want to drag a scull but that would...

Scaup, Last Question before sea trials

Went motor shopping, I think the best all around fit I found was a Yamaha 4 stroke 25 hp electric start. The advice has been on target so far so I am hoping for some sound feedback. What do you think?

Hi John, Thanks for the help the floor looks great. I was reading on another post that you had used rubber on your rub rail and on the keelsons. There was a website posted to purchase but also a mind boggling array of choices, do you know what size and configuration you used and how was it...

    Paint colors for scaup

have seen several boats paint blue instead of traditional duck boat drabs. Does anyone have suggestions on what the best colors might be? I will use this boat primarily in nantucket sound and not in marshy areas so that scheme might work better. Thanks In Reply To

    transom

I have a question, and I wonder if someone has a little advice. I have been looking at the Scaup plans and at other boats. I noticed one boat where the transom was not fully cutout. I have seen the same thing in a lot of the shellfishing boats here on the Cape. Would it add to the strength of...
