Big Eiders on the way, EDITED with the final 6

Yes, the keel actually extends under the tail board for added strength to that.

Thanks Dani, I agree. I really like the hen. I won't see them in hand until the fall but it will be a great hunt when we float them altogether for the first time.

thanks Tod. Do you still have the WW scoter? It was fun hunting the prototype last season. Always a conversation piece on the motor out and it always looked great in the set.

Indeed he does Patrick. I have a few of his work. It's always a great looking spread when he shows up.

Big Eiders on the way, EDITED with the final 6

Here are some pictures of what's coming. My good friend and carver Jon Ketchum is building us a six decoy rig for the upcoming season. Tip to tip the birds will be 32" +/- . Jon did a prototype this past summer of foam, which I hunted with each trip. These new six will be from cork. David...

NDR - Nice ice fishing spot

Not much has changed Carl. We were in 4' of water on a rocky point in front of the house, a proven spot over the years. It is fun seeing a flag up!

NDR - Nice ice fishing spot

Boy, that does look pretty serene Mark. Here's a picture of nice of nice brook trout we caught last week. It was even good enough to win the brook trout division of the derby that day.

    Fox Sterlingworth 12ga, sale pending

Serial #100**** Nice old sxs shotgun. No dents in barrels, no cracks in wood. Nice little upland gun. Possible trade for browning or 16ga sxs. Shipping available at cost. $825 I hunt this gun each season, I have never had the chambers measured but have only shot 2-1/2" RST through...

    Alumacraft ducker

I had one Dax. There was the nostalgic factor but that was it. That said, if I could find another at a great price, would probably pick it up. But I found it heavy for one person and did not paddle well either. I prefer my Maxi Poke Boat for that style of hunting.

    Regarding happiness--part 1

Hi Al, Pearl is doing wonderful. We're both slightly older though. She will be 11 this Feb. and currently sitting at 1739 retrieves. The time certainly has gone quickly. We are still doing our thing on the ocean although I will be slowing down next season to hunt more with friends and...

    Eider sightings

With only 3 hunts left, the eiders in the areas that I hunt have sure been sparse in comparison to past years. There is one pocket of birds in a well known area that are seasoned birds and actually fun to watch them as they skirt and avoid the duck boats, yet they let the lobster fisherman...

    Regarding happiness--part 1

Good morning Al, I'm really sorry to hear about Chip and now Chaco, I've not been on the page much lately. It's so obvious of the love you and Bev have for your dogs and the joy reciprocated by both sides of those bumper throws. I can't imagine losing not one, but two dogs in that short time...

    Dealing With Public Land Jerks

Man, that's tough. Everything I hunt is public but fortunately have had years of good experiences. There's just no way I'm going 8 hours before legal, just to get a spot at the ramp.... That's just me and I've been spoiled hunting my lifetime in Maine and NH.
