    Recipe for leg of venison

I've got a couple whole legs in the freezer that need to eaten. This time of year I'm going to want to grill them. I have some thoughts, but I'd love to hear some success stories on how to properly prepare and grill them. Thanks, Bob

    NDR WWII Support Vessel

While looking through family documents I came across design these plans for the Airplane Rescue Boats my Great Grandfather Carl Adams built for the US Navy in Cambridge Maryland during WWII. Another well known South Jersey boat builder, Adam Price, also built boats for the war effort including...

Stainless steel hardware for Boat repair?

I'm looking to pull my supplies together for the sneakbox I'm restoring. Are there any concerns on using stainless steel inside the hull? I'm going to be sistering some ribs (5/4 cedar) with 5/4 cedar and thru bolting them with 3" bolts. My preference was bronze, but a lot of suppliers are...

    Sneakbox Restoration

It?s been a long time coming, but I?m finally moving on the restoration of a Sneakbox my Great Grandfather Carl Adams sometime in the 60?s. I believe it to be all white cedar, the deck being tongue and groove. What I had hoped to be a re-glassing has turned into a bit more. This is probably no...

    Question for you oil painters

I hope to be finishing the paint work on my first go at oils. Have a pair of blacks I wanted to hunt last year, but unexpected drying times altered my plans. Is a spray varnish necessary and if so I presume it should be a matte finish? Any suggestions are appreciated. Thanks! Bob

    Some More NJ Curtain Call

My last day hunt was hiking my layout blind out to a salt pond in southern NJ where I regularly see black ducks, but hadn't hunted this season. Brought with me two black duck decoys and a hen mallard. My layout blind has straps and will fit the decoys so I can stay hands free except for my...

    BBSB Restoration

Long story short I have sneak box that I am finally able to restore to use. It was built by my Great Grandfather Carl Adams in the mid seventies and may be the last he built before passing. He built mostly 25' to 40' custom fishing boats as far back as prohibition, but built other boats and...

    A little extra Scouting

Flying out of Atlantic City airport gives me a great opportunity do a little extra scouting of Absecon Bay where I do most of my duck hunting. All winter I watch the planes on approach while hunting, but in the summer I get the reverse vantage point. Nothing beats boots on the ground, but the...

    Nesting Platforms?

Last year we partnered with Rutgers University to place this floating wetland in the detention basin behind my building. General idea is to create a floating platform for plants from synthetic material and keep it afloat with marine grade materials. We drilled holes so that plants would have a...

    Questions for you oil painters

I've decided this is the year I'm going to try finishing a few decoys with oil paints instead of the usual acrylics. I'm probably going to go with black ducks to keeps the colors low and I'm going to hunt over the decoys anyway. Is there any difference in sealing the decoy before painting...

    New Guy Sayin Hi

Outside of God, Country and Family my biggest passions are decoy carving and waterfowling. This forum looks like it hits on both and I’m looking forward to joining in the conversation. I’ve lived in South Jersey my whole life and most everything I know about carving and fowling I learned from...
