Not fun being on the news....dog almost died

I can't rehash the details yet again but if it wasn't for my hunting partner having an axe in his vehicle that I used to break out the rear window, Stacey and I wouldn't be nursing Cash back to health today. He has some pneumonia and is on some antibiotics and liver medicine. Miracles do happen...

Ever kick a guy out of your group because he's too cheap?

I'm at that point. I messaged him this morning that over and above the gas for my tow vehicle, it's going to cost a minimum of $60 to launch my boat for our second season opener next weekend. I have a trailer light that needs to be replaced, one trailer bearing, outboard gas, and some seafoam...

    Looking for a ringneck/ringbill pattern

Anybody have one to share? Post here or email to duxndawgs@yahoo.com Thanks. Planning on a move to Florida and I apparently need ringbills there and not knowing when I'll have shop space again, need to cut out a bunch before the move.

Sucks when it's your dog's time to go

Well that sucked....it always sucks. Stacey left work early, she picked up me and Barkley... Then she took us to Frisbees where we got him a cup of vanilla ice cream with peanut butter topping. Brought him down to the boat launch at Batterson for him to see the ducks and geese....while I fed...

Fatal duck hunting accident in Connecticut on Saturday 1/20

Three guys capsized their boat in Mumford Cove near Bluff Point State Park yesterday. Two died and one made it to shore. All young guys (compared to me). The two who perished are Joe Formica and Joe Grzelak. The survivor is Justin Besade, son of Scott Besade. As of right now a gofundme account...

Pretty much writing off my season - family medical issue

Ugh..... I'm not really a regular here anymore but go back to the near beginning of the site. Two years ago (11/23/15) my fiance Stacey and I were in a bad car accident. Somehow all I had for an injury was a bruise from the seatbelt. She however endured multiple injuries and had been having...

    Tuckerton 2017

Well, after 20 years of for this reason or that, and never been to Tuckerton. I found out the dates (9/23&9/24) if you don't know already. I text my fiance, "Hey, want to go to a waterfowling festival in NJ 9/23&9/24? I've never been and always have wanted to go". She writes back "I put in for...

    Cowling gasket adhesive?

We all know that outboards are a PIA, but a necessary evil. Well, test ran my Suzuki with muffs, no water coming out of the telltale..... Ran it in a barrel, still no water, even after running a piece of string trimmer line up the telltale.... My old Mariner was easy, take the cowling off, and...

    Tuckerton......what about the spouse??? HELP

Broaching the subject of Tuckerton with my fiance tonight. She got a new job a few months ago and has 9 vacation days to use or lose by the end of the year. So why not a trip to Tuckerton? I've always wanted to go but just could never make it happen. I'm thinking drive down Thursday morning...

Are these decoys recognizable to anybody?

I found myself at an auction last night and these decoys came up.... Kinda look factory made....not sure. No signatures. Bought 3. Seems to be original paint. Look familiar to anyone?

I scored a buttload of Herters today

A dozen GE and at least 2 dozen Buffies. All scuffed, dinged and needing renovation. Not going to be used enough to warrant burlapping. How does one fill the dings? Just waterproof putty? A couple have major material missing. GAC and Goldens?

Outboard cover? I can't find Steve Sanfords Tutorial

As it turns out, my original TDB motor cover, which would probably fit a 50hp 2 stroke, doesn't quite fit the new Suzuki 25hp 4 stroke. I'm not ready to paint the motor yet, So I need to make a new cover. I can't find the tutorial that Steve did a few months ago. Follow up question: how heavy...

Got a new motor, Cavitation plate location???

I managed to find a used 2008 Suzuki V Twin 25hp to replace my Mariner that got destroyed by a vandal. Where should the cavitation plate be in relation to the keel? With the mounting bracket on the transom, the plate is 2" lower than the keel. This is on a 14ft TDB Sea Class. Jim

    To my CT bretheren

You all know about my motor issues on my TDB.... thanks for the ride offers and I may be taking some of you up on that. However, in addition to my boat issues, I have dog issues. Barkley, my companion for the past 9 seasons is retired due to age related joint issues. I committed to a pup, that...

6 pocket decoy bags...... what's out there?

With my TDB parked until I find money for a motor, I pulled my decoys off of the shelves in the boat and started loading my 6 pocket Avery bags, the ones with the anchor pocket, handles, and removable shoulder strap. The UV apparently took its toll on one of the bag's handles after many years...

Duck boat hit by a vandal

I discovered yesterday that over the weekend, on Sunday, that my outboard on my TDB had a hammer taken to the powerhead and now it's toast. I have a good idea who did it, and the police are involved. I know that I'll never receive restitution and I can't buy a motor this year, so I'm a...

What are the rest of you guys seeing at your banquets in terms of attendance? Be it DU, Delta, or your local organization? CT Waterfowlers Association had their annual Spring Banquet yesterday. It used to be that we would get about 180 attendees every year. I think we peaked one year at...
