    Whoops

Been on the Texas gulf coast since Nov 1st. - mainly flyfishing Redfish. The past month I see Whooping Cranes most days. Thought it strange to see them grazing on the flats until I learned they love blue crabs as much as we do. https://youtu.be/Nm9fwhdJths

MDO - what is the downside?

I'm replacing the transom wood in a 1995 Lund. Doubled up MDO has been recommended but I've not used that material before. Plan is to incase in epoxy. Any downsides I should be aware of?

    DP-40/401 or ?

15-20 years ago we were using dp-40/401 epoxy primer with great success. Is it still preferred and available? No, not a new boat, fixing up a current one.

NDR - For those that live and/or play in snake country

Here is a thread from another site detailing the experience of being bitten by a rattler. In my 69 years I have never seen a venomous snake in the wild. After reading this thread I'm looking for snake gaiters or boots before I hunt down south again...

    Anyone else on anti-coagulants?

There are a number of products on the market to assist in blood clotting - anyone have a recommendation? Had to start taking Plavix in January after triple stent procedures and find that even tiny nicks/cuts/scrapes take forever to stop bleeding. Have to start thinking of preparations and...

10 Ways to Eat Sea Ducks

Hey Gang, While many of you visit Hank Shaw's web site for culinary inspiration as I do, I am sure there are quite a few who have never had the pleasure. I have made a lot of Hank's recipes for a variety of game and never had a failure, in fact many times I will hear "This is the best thing...

Our buddy Tom Scholberg could use some help.

If you will remember, Tom was having issues with pain in his ribs a month or so ago. Well it wasn't his ribs but a very aggressive "something or other" that attacked and destroyed a vertebrae in the middle of his back. He had surgery a week or so ago to take the pieces out and replace with a...

Couldn't let Dave have all the fun.

2nd annual Steelhead trip to the UP for the opener. Stayed in my buddy's camp right on the river. Great weather and no bugs. Hooked 8 but only managed to get three to the net - this was the last.

NDR: The deer monkey has left the building.

In late 2009 after 35 years of shooting and hunting with a compound bow I switched back to traditional archery. Since then I have been successful with moose, elk and javelina. I have been spooked by both deer and turkeys and have missed both at least three times in the past couple of years. I...

    LaCrosse/Goose Island get together.

I just spoke to the park attendant and she said reservations aren't really necessary. There are hardly any campers this time of year so we basically have the place to ourselves. In addition, they are starting to close up some of the campsites and blowing out the water lines for winter. That...

I'm Baaaack and the freezer is full.

Well actually got back two weeks ago but the combination of another hunt and no internet has pretty much kept me from posting pics. Left home on August 26th and headed to Colorado for archery elk with two other traditional archers. Hunted an area I have taken several elk in the past but no...
