    Trolling Motor Batteries Setup ??

Looking to get max run time and reliability out of TM setup. When using a TM as primary propulsion on small waters that don't allow (or need) a gas engine, is one better off setting up 2 -12V 50AH DP marine batteries in parallel or keep them separate with a 3 positions (1, off 2) switch? Or...

    Holy Mackerel

Took the old duck boat out on the bay yesterday morning. The Spanish macs were thick at the Gandy Bridge. The bite was fast and furious when the schools came in. I did see a couple of mottled ducks at the stormwater pond on the way back from the ramp.

Dauphin Island got over 6", some places in downtown Mobile had 10", bottom photo is from my staff members house in Mobile. Hope those of you that are hunting get a good push of ducks to finish the season!

    NDR: Cleaning Fish

So why is it that the first fillet on panfish comes off like a fishmonger with 50 years experience was holding the knife but the second side come off like some cave man cut it off with a dull rock? Asking for a friend who had to fillet 56 saltwater panfish this morning. 😳

    Electric Outboard

Found this interesting. Pretty good performance for a cheap motor with a relatively low amp hour battery. Definitely better than a standard TM if you are fishing lakes with no gas engine restrictions.

    Scoters on Mississippi Sound

Was down on Mississippi Sound today doing work for my former agency. Surprisingly did not see a single redhead, scaup or buffy. But did see 3 scoters. Which I assume were white wings.

Puddle Duck Genetics & Genus Restructuring

If you followed along the Balsa thread on the Carvers Corner, and previous other Forum threads, you know how much fun the confusion between common names vs. scientific names can be. Even better is the debates between lumpers and splitters in the wildlife biologists community. I tended to be a...

    NDR- Fishing Rod Guide Replacement

Anyone here ever replace a guide (not tip) on a fishing rod? How hard is it? I know have three old rods that I love but each have a broken guide. Thinking about spending $20 to get a guide kit off Amazon, they come with guides, thread and glue. Thanks!
