Does anyone know whether the USFWS will engage in a full-scale waterfowl breeding population survey this year?

I ask, because there is essentially no season structure guidance data and the BA.2 Omicron variant is now the dominant infector within the United States' population. As ODD as last season was, it would be interesting to see the population estimates.

Recommmended mastic for trestle coating bead foam bodies

I was handed 18 bead foam divers with good wood bottom boards, Herters 72 heads and Herters cast keel weights. I would like to trestle coat these with mastic/burlap for their owner as a summer project prior his return to the UP this fall to hunt. Never burlapped a decoy, so I am looking for...

    Weird season's start...

Our opening weekend on the Great Lakes indicated we have more mallards than prior years, as well as more marsh courtesy of a near twenty inch drop in water levels. On the other side of that ledgert, I am glad I added the extra quarter inch of epoxy on my stern lifting pad based on the dolomite...

    Spring on the Great Lakes

Three of us fished a Great Lakes tributary for steelhead prompted by a call from Kevin to tell me he was seeing near-constant "flashing" males (males flipped on the sides fanning the gravel to make a redd). We actually caught more fish, but two of us sorted fish to only keep hatchery origin...

So, what is the consensus perspective on use of decoy nets for divers?

I have a friend who is hunting with his kids on the eastern seaboard. Like me, he is a longline guy. Thus far he is not very impressed with decoy net sets to pull divers. Anyone with broad experience care to comment? What percentage of working birds opt to set-in versus fly past?

Just when you think that things couldn't get more zany
