My 2.5 horse mud motor will push my broadbill loaded to the gills at 5.4 mph, and 6.1 empty. . So I am sure a regular 2.5 outboard will do better than that. My 2 stroke 4 horse will almost get it up on plane empty. The 15 horse makes it fly! James
