    Hunting Land Access

Your right on - these bogs were just north of Chatsworth on RT 563 and are now known as the Franklin Parker Preserve. I chose this example because I'm more familiar with it, but I think the Annual Report was 2005. The NJDEP and Pinelands Commission will review aerial imagery to detect...

    Hunting Land Access

Jeff, What Maine has in place seems to be very logical. I have no problem with conditional access unless Public funds are used for purchase. This example taken from a NJDEP Annual Report describes the purchase of 14 square miles of pinelands / wetlands that can now only be deer hunted for a...

    Hunting Land Access

Having read posts from other States I have to say if there is a benefit to living in the People's Republic of New Jersey its that finding a place to duck hunt is relatively easy, especially along the coast. Most everything tidal is public and requires no permission or lotteries. Some towns...

Ugh.....oh well, back to the workbench.

Sure do! I have some that never get finished because of a flaw I missed or a mistake I made. I have some that I finished, decided I no longer liked them and now use to test paint techniques on. I think trial and error is how you get better. Keep at it!

Thanks Tod! Looks like the way I want it to be done. I'm not in a big hurry so I'll watch some videos on sous vide.

    Recipe for leg of venison

A small Y. Small enough I can get the whole leg on the grill, maybe in a roaster if I bend it.

    Recipe for leg of venison

I've got a couple whole legs in the freezer that need to eaten. This time of year I'm going to want to grill them. I have some thoughts, but I'd love to hear some success stories on how to properly prepare and grill them. Thanks, Bob

    Close calls

Closest call for me was when as a teenager I took advantage of the Christmas-New Years break to go hunting with a friend of mine. We launched out of Faunce Landing in Absecon New Jersey in my 12 ft. tin can with a 6hp johnson early in the morning. Tide was high, temperature was about 25...

What's on your workbench December 2021

Finally catching up and thought I'd share photos of some decoys I finished this fall. I had an order for a hybrid mallard / from white cedar and finished with acrylics. Also, finished a couple rigs of what I call the "Hunter's special", also hollowed white cedar, but finished with alkyds.

    2021 Tuckerton Show Booklet

The attached pdf should give a good look at the show contents and competition schedule. Hope to meet many of you there. I'll be in the tent near the sneakbox shoot. http://www.co.ocean.nj.us//WebContentFiles//ce531dc3-54dc-45df-b506-0b3f62406817.pdf

    Old OMC outboard parts

Peter, You might try Crowley Marine. The site has engine diagrams so you can see what the parts actual name is which then is helpful in finding availability elsewhere. You could try Amazon as well. Most of the kits I've seen run in ranges of years produced and may include parts you may not...

    Sneakbox Restoration

Thanks Jim! I'm pretty happy with progress even if it is late. As much as wanted to, it would have been irresponsible to head out into the bay without making sure everything is properly tested.

    Sneakbox Restoration

So after a long process I fell short of my goal to hunt from the sneakbox this season. I did get down to the bay for a short float, but not enough to feel comfortable with the whole rig. Now I plan for next season and to make sure i get a feel for how the box will row, motor and trailer. I'll...
