    Shotgun recomendations

I have an older Benelli SBE which has served me well for over 20 years, of course it was half the price then compared todays market. Currently I am shooting older guns Smith & Wesson 1000 and 3000 Waterfowlers from the mid 80's I just love the way they look with the parkerized barrels, oil...

    Season Dates stink

The duck season dates in New York used to be fine when the task force set the dates, unfortunately the DEC got rid of the task force and set their own dates based on their BS surveys sent out. in Western NY they shut the season down during peak migration which is historically the first two weeks...

    Cabela's Demise

I agree Vince, the local trails at Sprague Brook Park have taken a beating, more hikers, bikers and loose dogs than I have ever seen. As for ammo Walmart has had a decent amount of rifle rounds.

    Sb2

I have an SBE 1 that is over 20 years old. Used to shoot a lot of 3 1/2" of of it on geese for years, the only time any issues occurred was when the recoil spring in the stock became worn. Over the course of 20 years I have replaced two of them with Wolff Spring kits.

    What a sin!

My brother watched a guy at work throw bags into the dumpster, he asked what was in the bags the guy replied some old decoys from a attic his son cleaned out near Seneca Lake. Thankfully my brother took the bags home, I now have a Mason Bluebill and a Goldeneye.

Joel Barber exhibit at the Shelburne Museum

I visited there over 20 years ago and must say it is worth the trip for any waterfowler interested in the history of waterfowling. Not only were decoys on display but also boats.

    A Foggy Surprise

I think that one would make its way to the taxidermist for the wall. Great bird!

    Canvasback

The mighty Niagara definitely holds some Cans. I have a family member that lives on the West Niagara, every time we visit I take my binoculars just to watch the birds moving up and down the river.

    Early Goose Season

I enjoy the early season but have issues with the 15 bird limit in NY. Over the years guys have figured out they can kill limits of birds the last week and a half of the season, problem is they are killing early migrants not locals as the limit is intended. I have seen huge flocks of birds...

School me on the Remington SP-10

I have the SP 10 and two Mag 10's, they are goose killing machines with larger pellets. The springs have all been replaced with Wolff spring kits which improves the reliability and function. Some parts are interchangeable between the two versions, bolt buffers are readily available on eBay...

NDR, vehicle suspension question... camper leaf springs...

I have worked in the suspension industry for over 30 years, your problem is not uncommon. First it is difficult to roll a perfectly round eye for the smaller diameter spring bushing. It appears you are keeping them greased but the thin wall on the bushing will only last so long especially under...

    Tundra Swan Migration

Upon arriving to work yesterday morning I heard swans, I looked up and there was roughly a flock of 100 coming from the north turning west and headed to Lake Erie. Not sure where they spent the night or flew all night but it did make my day. By the way I work in the City of Buffalo so it makes...

Anybody own a Grizzly or Shop Fox tool?

I have an old Buffalo Forge #18 floor model paid $100 for it, stripped it down, painted it and put a new motor on it. Some of the older machinery is way better than the new offshore made stuff. Buffalo Forge not to be confused with the old Buffalo brand sold at harbor Freight, this machinery was...

First Double in a Long Time

Congrats Steve. We hunted a creek for geese Friday and Sunday and saw quite a few Blacks both days. Although the duck season is closed for us it was still quite enjoyable watching them circle and drop in. Still my favorite duck after all my years of gunning.
