    Canadian Duck Hunt

Nothing beats a good diver hunt, except a good diver hunt with a mix of species. (y) There's a certain irony in erecting windmills so you can power pot grow greenhouses. Save the environment so you can pollute yourself directly.

    BBSB Pond Box Build

Making a dodger is more difficult that it looks. I made sure not to take any closeups of the stitching. It was really challenging because I need to be able to remove it, in pieces, to be able to row. The aft panels can be separated from the dodger, they are attached with snaps. I'm...

    BBSB Pond Box Build

With luck I'll have some canvas sewn this weekend. I bought the Sailrite supplied scrim you use and have a pattern roughed out. During the maiden voyage of the new sewing machine I was fortunate to avoid bloodletting. The machine is a Singer 4452, it had mixed reviews but I couldn't get myself...

    BBSB Pond Box Build

We're on the same page! (y) I usually drag the mutt hutt in a brown jetsled, together with a buddy heater if it's really cold. As discussed, I was hoping to get him in the pond box but it's not looking promising. Maybe I'll have an epiphany before the season.

Need advice on shooting a .410 for ducks this year to reduce recoil

The intriguing aspect of this thread is that the .410 is being discussed as a legitimate waterfowl cartridge. The various denser than lead shot offerings, notably TSS, have had a profound impact on how we view what was previously considered a child's trainer. And some 28 gauge loads are now...

Need advice on shooting a .410 for ducks this year to reduce recoil

An easy way to tinker with adding weight in the stock is to put some lead shot in a plastic sandwich bag. Roll it up and insert in the stock, add or remove shot as desired. Six to eight ounces will have a profound effect on the gun's dynamics. Once you get it right to try shooting it, tape the...

    BBSB Pond Box Build

I agree that is the best way with a dog. That is the way our full size BBSB's were/are set up. At only 9', it is not an option to put the dog on the foredeck or behind the hunter. Chances are I'll still need to bring the mutt hutt for him, but it's always fun to try something new. This pond box...

    BBSB Pond Box Build

A little more progress. I'm on a mission now, as the season starts again in two weeks. I've been stalled on the boat because mischievous individuals on this site convinced me to flock decoys. :) My OCD kicked in and flocking consumed pretty much all my spare time the last two weeks. I just got...

Need advice on shooting a .410 for ducks this year to reduce recoil

While I've shot hundreds of thousands of .410's at clay targets, I have very limited experience with it on ducks. Like Steve, my recollection is that all but a couple of attempts was in the old days, shooting lead. If I was going to use a .410 today, the TSS loads are what I'd look at first. No...

    12' Sneakbox in NJ

That plaque may suggest that someone, or his dog's, ashes come with the boat. That's interesting.

    Paint job

I'd suggest the OP ask Steve Sanford whether he'll take on the repaint.

    All Things Flocking

Good info, as always. I've experienced the paint adhesion problems in attempts to repaint beat up plastics. I'm going to keep an eye on the first couple of batches this year, then figure a game plan for next year. My thinking is to try a small batch of mallards before our season reopens in...

    Help Identifying Layout Boat

If the boat is a Brant II, it shouldn't be glass over wood as the OP believes. Maybe what the current owner believes to be wood is actually foam core or similar? Or were some made with wood?

Would this be a Skull Boat?

The OP's boat looks very similar to the Dan Kidney Green Bay Hunting Boat. The high coaming is the question, maybe that was an option offered by the factory. The floor supports are offset in the photos almost identical to what appears in the Kidney Catalogs. No way to be certain from the photos...
