    It's Time!

Tough for me to release much water right now unfortunately as the Army Corp is releasing lots of water from the Lake trying to get it down to summer pool stage(severe floods this spring) and thus keeping the river at bank full here.

    It's Time!

Early October I will begin brushing up the skid blinds and layout boat blinds. Most likely wont get water until early December as have to rely on either Mother Nature or the Army Corp of Engineers to release water. We dont use a permanent spread as hunt out of the layout boats most of the time.

    It's Time!

Well its that time of year for me to begin prepping my moist soil marsh for the upcoming season. Time to start the slow drawn down of the water, time to get the tractor and bush hog out of storage, time to cut up and remove all the trees which either blew over or floated into the marsh, time to...

    4/15/2025

Good day yesterday--survived my 30th tax season and my new Browning A5 20 gauge(which I ordered Jan 2024) finally came in!! Looking forward to a lot less work hours and a lot more play hours the rest of 2025. Going to have lots of clean up at my duck land once the river finally get back...

    There any golfers here?

I played lots of golf from when I was teenager to when I had children. Gave it up for 25 yrs or so until my son and his wife moved back to my hometown 2 yrs ago and told me that I needed to buy a set of clubs and start playing golf with him. I play to mostly to get exercise as I/we typically...

    Indiana Sandhill Crane Survey

I did not get the survey. Wonder how that proposed system would work for us lifetime license holders?

    NDR - Shingles

Still have mine going on. Good news is rash is down, but yet very visible, so last couple days been able to use lidocaine patches which have made it much more tolerable. I did resort to Benadryl last couple nights which has help me get better rest.

    NDR - Shingles

Lots of good advice on this thread including the colonoscopy. Dont wish shingles on anyone. IT is not fun and I think the worst part for me mentally is not knowing how long I will have to deal with this. If I knew if it lasted 2 weeks, or 2 months, etc., I would be able to deal with it...

    NDR - Shingles

Maybe this is just a sign that I should retire? Man that would be fabulous! Unfortunately probably not going to happen in the near future.

    NDR - Shingles

Going to try an active campaign of Tylenol and ice packs(morning before work, lunchtime, and bedtime) on the swelling this week. Hopefully this with the rash starting to slowly go away will find some relief!!! Yes definitely don't want anyone to get this--It is not fun. To make this...

    NDR - Shingles

Woke up last Sunday morning with shingles so have had the shingles "belt" rash for just over a week now. The rash itself hasn't been very painful(very blessed from horror stories I have heard), but the swelling on my side is extremely uncomfortable and makes it difficult to breathe and sleep...

    Winter is here. Who’s hunting?

3 hunts into our season and not a shot fired and now froze over. However nice warmup starting this weekend should help unlock my most of my water by midweek next week.

    2 man pontoon boat

Actually planning to motor it out and back each hunt. Goal is to keep the “pontoon dock” as small as possible. I have a small very lightweight 2 person A frame style skid blind i would just set on the pontoon dock to use as the blind. This would allow me to simply lift the blind off the pontoon...

    2 man pontoon boat

Thinking a making a 2 person pontoon boat blind which I would use a small trolling motor. Only have about 100 yds to motor. Question is what is the minimum pontoon length and deck dimensions would you think would be substantially sturdy enough for 2 guys, lightweight small skid blind, sitting...

How do I get the bow down?

Yes agree the website states 2hp. I did talk directly to the owner of County Line and he personally he uses a 6.5hp featherlite longtail on it and has no issues or concerns. Maybe the outboard angle makes a difference compared to the longtail? I will definitely check the anti-cavitation...

How do I get the bow down?

Boat weighs 150lbs per the website. I tried yesterday without any load in it. The odd part to me is that last year I tried it and it seemed to plane out or at least much better than yesterday(at least from what I remember), but then need to remove the motor to use my trolling motor. Put the...
